Just a correction Phoebus travels to Gloucester first game...it's not at Darling.

Well the VHSL site says Gloucester is at Darling, but we played them at home last year. We get them at home this year again?

Last year has nothing to do with this year. We're starting a new 2-year contract cycle, so they could have switched the locations for this cycle or it could just be a typo. I'll check on that this weekend.

Interesting.

The only weird/wrong thing that we noticed was the York High schedule. We didn't think the Falcons were playing eight "away" games.

That Phoebus/Gloucester schedule is probably correct because Phoebus is also playing @ Denbigh again this year. It's a 4 oclock game at Todd Stadium. Remember, Phoebus beat Denbigh in the last game of the season at Todd 77-0. The schedule is totally different this year. We also have Bethel as the last game this season unlike the past 2 seasons when it was the 2nd game.

I don't know we were just told @Gloucester weeks ago but they have been saying Darling first two games now.

the phoebus gloucester game is definately at darling. Merchant must have ruffled feathers somewhere to get that atrocious schedule, everyone looked at the first two, but after that they have a home game vs granby then back to darling at bethel. Thats a brutal start to the season.

I'm sure they'll be welcomed with open arms by the community. *sarcasm*

why should they be welcomed with open arms. football isnt soccer, we dont have friendlies

Actually I was implying that there would be somewhat racial monikers thrown around during the football game... I'm sure anyone who has ever played GHS can attest.

you do realize that 1/4 the school and over half the football team are minorities right?

I have been to a lot of football games in gloucester. never heard a racial slur. perhaps you wandered to guinea

Going to have to agree that Gloucester team is full of minorities and you don't hear racial slurs during the game...that was an ignorant statement.

Both of you obviously are not former players, but instead parents or perhaps fans of such school's sport. Someone back me up on this.... I know I'm not the only player that was called a n****r lover or the word itself...

i played for gloucester for two years. heritage for one. i heard a lot more when i played for gloucester. being called crackers and cow "lovers"

i personally believe football is the only place in the world other than war that anything goes. You call me a name, fine, im going to lay you out to the best of my ability next play. all's fair in love, war, and football.
Nah, all isn't fair in love and war, and all of that getting wrapped up in the moment is a bunch of BS! I don't care what your race is; when you attack me racially, it's not part of the game. Now, call me a punk, a soft B...., weak, or whatever... That I can accept as part of the game. But don't call me out of my name racially. And I don't care which race it is. That's not part of the game.

i wasnt implicating myself or anyone else. my point is you could never say something to me on a football field that woudl bother me. i lose myself in the game. im mixed, black on my dads side, native american and british on my mom's side. i just dont care.

at any rate, my points remain the same. i dont think you hear ethnic slurs at gloucester football games. I am not saying it is ok if there was. i am simply saying i wouldnt care.

Lol just because you had a bad experience means nothing....the team last year was very respectful towards us...matter fact every team was respectful...nothing out of the ordinary besides the normal trash talk that comes with football. I think it's unfair to put this label on Gloucester just because they have a higher white population than all the other schools.

Haha, yet again you obviously wern't a player. I didn't have a bad experience in Gloucester, heck how could you? I'm pretty sure we beat them all four years that I started on both sides of the ball. And I really couldn't care what someone called me, it was always when they were laying on their backs. And maybe ole GHS has changed a bunch since I played 8 years ago. I guess I should have started out my comment with, "Well back in my day". I'm sorry if I offended anyone, especially the cowtippers of the boards <== that was a joke by the way...

actually warwick received some racism 2 years ago when bottles and rocks were thrown at our busses

Dukes17

That definately didnt happen at gloucester. and what makes that racism?

You know the thing about it is, it happens, and not just in places like Gloucester. It happens with all races. Now, don't get me wrong because I was probably one of the biggest trash talkers coming up playing ball on Fulton St and North Phoebus rec center; and that did transfer over to me playing organized ball. However, I NEVER called somebody out of their name racially. I understand that people try whatever they can to get under your skin during a game, but that's a personal attack.
