I just heard this morning that Nansemond River CC aerified their greens yesterday. NRCC is hosting the most important tournament of the school year (TCIS golf finals) and they decide to aerify the greens. Ridiculous!!! I would love to know if they would do the same before an important adult tourny.
You can try to use the argument that the course will be beat up anyway. I'm sure Sleepy Hole took some pounding with every TCIS team playing on Monday but today will be different. It's only 3 teams playing plus the top individuals. Most of these individuals have indexes below 3, some play at scratch or slightly higher. They are some of the best golfers of any age in the area.
It's not just NRCC, though. Junior golfers are generally looked down upon. Country Clubs have restrictive age requirements regardless of ability. Junior tournaments are rarely held on weekends. Adult golfers don't give juniors the courtesies that other golfers demand. During some slow play one day an adult foursome demanded that my son's junior foursome allow them to play through even though it was the group ahead of my son's that was holding everyone up. The adults said they would report the juniors to the pro shop if they didn't allow them through.
Golf is one of the few sports that can define your level of play with a number. If a junior can prove they are good golfers by earning a respectable index and they agree to behavior standards, then they should be given the same treatment as adult golfers.
