QB was Vector RB was Giles and Maurice Turner and they're running a wing T and playing Wilson in a playoff game...what is this? Wilson was the defending state champions and Aaron Sparrow played QB for Wilson
I had NO clue Phoebus EVER ran a wing T offense.

Actually the QB was Beckner and like you said the the two RB's were Maurice
Turner and Kevin Giles...But Wilson weren't the defending state champs. Aaron Sparrow was a monster though. UVa had him locked in their sights, but he struggled with the SAT's...

Not only the SAT's but grades also. If I think right Sparrow didn't want to go to UVA. He wanted to highlight a Black college. (other than NSU)

You might be right...But that's the thing, Kermitt Buggs ended up winning the job over Sparrow....

Phoebus ran something more akin to Nebraskas triple at the time PURE POWER BLOCKING. If it looked like anything else it was because Bill would offset the line and do trick plays with direct snaps ect!The line had injury problems and too much youth to overcome the adversity of that situation! The idea was to be very different from the films hoping our backs could break afew good ones 4 tds! We found Wilson had equal or better teamspeed@ the critcal positions LBs DBs...........WE were DOOMED...........NOT a THIRTYSOMETHING -FORTY SOMETHING Player.ASseen...BY...............:clap2:A54 year old.Coach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!THE RE AT THE TIME!!!

You sure Wilson wasn't the defending state champs? Even during post game interviews Bill Dee said they were

I'm almost certain that they weren't. Even though they crushed us our senior year, I don't think they won state that year...LOL They might have though. I know the year that you say they won state, they barely beat Warwick in the Regionals...

Wilson WAS the defending state champs in 1990 because that's all those Ptown heads was talking about when Phoebus whipped them earlier in a preseason scrimmage at Frank D. Lawrence Stadium. After Phoebus lost that playoff game to Wilson, Warwick upset Wilson 22-21 the following week. I remember because I was there. About 3 weeks earlier Warwick handed Phoebus their only regular season loss on Tremaine Jernigan's last min kickoff return.
