2 BRD teams to get home games
By JASON JORDAN | jjordan@dailypress.com
It was easy to understand why Tabb baseball coach Doug Baggett remained in high spirits on Tuesday after losing, 6-1, to Poquoson in the semifinals of the Bay Rivers District baseball tournament.
Tabb won the regular season title and locked up a No. 1 seed in next week's Region I tournament.
But not only will the winner of the Poquoson-Smithfield district title game earn the district's third regional slot, they will also be playing for the right to play at home. Whoever wins the tournament will be a No. 2 seed in the regional.
Originally they would have played against the Eastern Shore No. 1 seed, Nandua. But that was based on Nandua winning the regular season or the district tournament, which they didn't. Now that Eastern Shore birth is replaced by a third from either the Southside or Battlefield District.
