Have fun Crabbers

Will Richardson play against Hampton...still some questioning him for missing the Phoebus game

Hampton will run up the score to try to make people forget about how average they've looked the past two weeeks

Hampton 63
Menchville 7 - CR will score

56-0.

I've heard that MHS is down to somewhere around 20 varsity players and dressing jvs just to make the sideline look full. If CR plays offense, he'll get one score, but I know he's been used sparingly on the offensive side of the ball as of late.

again another shot towards Hampton..... Phoebus scores 60 points and its nothing...Hampton scores 60 points and its running up the score.

Hampton will do something Phoebus couldn't which is keep Menchville off the board.

Dude, lay off the pipe dreams!... Phoebus is just better than Hampton period, beating other teams "worse" than each other is whack. It stinks Phoeubs is so much better than the rest of the league, but I do notice they are a lot quicker with subs than Hampton is. Hampton leaves the starters deep into the game. Running up the score or not, when the "BIG HYPED" game was played 2 weeks ago, Hampton looked like a JV team playing a Varsity team.

C'mon man it's time to admit yall do run the score up...it's not a bad thing tho when you can do it it means you have good enough talent to do so.

Perfect example is against Heritage...both Phoebus and Hampton were in the SAME EXACT position. Phoebus was up 56-0 and Hampton was up 51-0 with the ball in Heritage territory with a minute left in the 1st half. Phoebus downed the ball like on the 20 instead of easily going up 63-0. Hampton ran plays and eventually scored to go up 58-0. By definition that's running up the score. Y'all will run the score up on Menchville and have Watford, Bellamy, and Cogdell in the game until mid 4th quarter and say it's to get ready for the playoffs...has Watford's backup even seen the field this year?

And if Hampton keeps Menchville out of the endzone it means nothing to us. They scored on our 3rd team defense...most of those players won't see the field until the 2012 season.

Hampton will again try to make a statement..... however teams that are not as good as people think need to make statements against weaker teams. Phoebus exposed them, Kecoughtan had em on the ropes but couldn't put points up. I don't think Hampton wants to enter the playoffs like that, so beating up on Menchville must be the answer.

Hampton 77
Menchville 14

downing the ball is an even bigger smack in the face. Your not even going to give the team a chance to make a play against you. And in all honesty, if more than 1 team has scored 50+ points on you before theend of the second half, then maybe they shouldn't have a football program to begin with...I mean Gloucester is a bad team..but they but up a fight to atleast try and compete. 50-0 in the second qtr isnt competing....

I like how you skipped around the truth...but like I asked you has Watford's back up played at all this year?

I hope Hampton loses the rest of there games. How do you suspend two players and kick one off the team for playing around after the phoebus game, yet the player who went out there and started the fight gets no punishment. Coach smith has become a evil unfair person and any parent with a child on his team needs to keep a eye on him. He's getting what's due him by not being able to get past phs. His coaching skills have diminished and he runs the same defense from the 80's. So I'm going with the upset pick mud14 hhs7 late.

If Menchville beats Hampton I'd have a big smile on my face..... however when the playoffs start I'm pulling for Hampton just as much as any other PD team.
I don't want to get into how a coach self disciplines his team. Unless I know the whole story behind what happened. One persons playing around may be someone elses fighting, and one persons fighting may be someone else's playing around. Now hopefully coach Smith is consistant in his discipline it's important for any team in the long run. He's not been this successful over 40 years by not knowing what he's doing.

Just giving my opinion about the game. I know the whole story because it was a family member of mine who was suspended and that was inconsistent in discipline. The difference was one was a starter and the other guys weren't. As far as him being successful for 40 yrs, I hope you don't look past the fact that he had some very talented and hard working players and coaches that help make him successful.

Yeah I heard about those 3 players being disciplined for playing after the game but everyone knows that's just Mike Smith being frustrated after being dominated once again. It's a well known fact that he isn't the nicest coach and he puts his players down a lot.

Do understand how you feel, but afraid Hampton is going to win this one by a wide margin.

okay so now were questioning Smith's coaching integrity?? His coaching methods have been questionable since 1969. Players goofing around after a game? Not to mention a lost!!!.. in the 90's you would have gotten the boot no questions asked. My second year I almost got cut for messing up in the pre-game warmups against denbigh... You dont play around after a lost..

At lest Clifton Richardson knows he still going to be playing ball for the next 4 years at UVA

To bad his team wasn't very successful.

 I guess they ran up the score again but scoring a touchdown in the 2nd half.

Sidenote, lets take time to give appreciation to Richardson HS career at the 'Ville. I can't wait for him to rep VA on Saturday afternoons. :clap2: Clap 4 em'

Interesting historical stat ... this is the 39th time Hampton has won at least 9 games in a season.

I just wanted to say that the Hampton kicker Skyler Hutchensen is really a class act. My son kicks for Menchville and last night in the 4th quarter he missed a 51 yrd FG just to the right but had the distance. He was very dissapointed. After the game Skyler came up to Dillon and really said some nice things to him, encouraging him and giving him props. That really boosted Dillon's mood and I just wanted to give a shout out to Skyler for encouraging my son. It's little things like that that have a great impact!

Tells you a lot about Skyler's character.

Anytime you can boot one 51 yards, and miss left or right, is something to talk about. The district is well aware of your son's potential. It's amazing that he is only a sophomore. It will be fun watching him progress during the next two years.

I hope he is working with a good kicking coach.

I am not going to candy-coat it -- I have real questions about the coaching at MHS. That is a big school with lots of good athletes, and a good sporting tradition. There is no excuse for the poor preparation that is evident when MHS steps on the field.

I will compliment the QB, Boothe, who gives it his all despite being hit on nearly every play -- he took the same battering against PHS, and kept getting up. Bravo to him, and I hope he can find 5 friends for next year who want to join the OL and protect him. I also thought the MHS d-line played well, and the D in general hustled. They just looked overmatched and ill-prepared for playing a team like HHS.

I am reminded of the fact that they showed up late for their game vs. PHS, and without their star running back. They also came out of their lockerroom late for the 2nd half last night, and promptly gave up a KO return for a touchdown.

As for Richardson, he certainly looked good on the 1 opportunity he had to run in the open field last night -- a KO return. Otherwise, I have no way to gauge his ability based on what I have seen. I know he is looking forward to playing for a new team (UVA), or any new team for that matter.

Thanks for your kind words! I hope to have him work with Dick Van Dyke this summer at his sessions he holds at CNU and have some private sessions with Todd Covington. He really hasn't had any real instruction so he needs to work on the fundamentals of kicking in general. He has leg strength but needs to work on his technique to become more consistent. MHS doesn't really have a strong special teams coach. His JV soccer coach has been coming to practice to try and help him. He is wonderful man and does this out of the kindness of his heart. Hopefully over the next two years he will gain the skills that he needs. Even though MHS didn't win many games, it was still fun to watch him make progress.

I guess it's okay to say since he announced it to the players last night; Coach Byron will not be back next year.

Failed to mention that I too thought that was a whale of a FG attempt -- good luck to your son, who has lots of promise as a kicker, and who should work with Van Dyke to improve his strong natural abilities.

Wow, thank you so much for your kind words. And yes, we definitely want to get him working with Van Dyke. Looking forward to next year already! :)
