Since New Kent beat Jamestown tonight then I guess the York/New Kent tie is out of the question but what about York and Poquoson? If York loses to Grafton and Poquoson beats Smithfield tomorrow then (according to the article) Poquoson will move into 2nd place and York to third. Right?
BRD Runs Scored/Runs Allowed is surprising!!! Take a look at these numbers and tell me if they surprise you. The source of the numbers is from the "scores, schedule, standings" section of HR Varsity
New Kent
scored 83
allowed 22
York
scored 144
allowed 23
Poquoson
scored 82
allowed 12
Grafton
scored 102
allowed 40

I'm not sure what you meant by "out of the question". If York beats Grafton and New Kent beats Warhill, THEY ARE TIED.
To determine #1 seed....Head to Head...they split.
Next look at quality wins formula. Basically it's how good are the teams you beat. Add up the numbers of wins for the teams you beat. Higher total gets #1 seed.
If that does not settle it, three was a preseason draw to determine this.
This is for seeding purposes only for district tournament.
If there is a tie between York and Poquoson, Poquoson wins out on this because of the regular season sweep versus York.
THESE THINGS ARE FOR SEEDING IN THE TOURNAMENT ONLY, NOT THE REGIONAL BERTHS. THOSE ARE DECIDED BY WHICH TEAM LASTS THE LONGEST IN THE DISTRICT TOURNAMENT.

Are you guaranteeing a Grafton win over York?

If New Kent and York are tied for first at the end of the regular season (Wednesday) both are guaranteed regional berths. ...period, end of sentence.
The top two teams get regional berths regardless of what happens in the tournament.
The district's third regional berth would then go to Poquoson, unless a team seeded fourth or lower wins the district tournament (which would eliminate Poquoson).
If York and Poquoson tie for second (New Kent is going to be at least tied for first because it plays Warhill today) then whichever of the two finishes higher in the district tournament gets a regional berth. ....both would go to the regional unless a team seeded fourth or lower wins the district tournament.

I wasn't too surprised by the numbers. York has some dangerous bats....
Little bit of analysis using the HR Varsity reported scores:
York scored 62% of these runs against the bottom 3 teams and 8% against the top 3 teams
New Kent scored 48% against the bottom and 18% against the top 3
Don't know what to read into that if anything, but, with all the stat padding over in the PD, one has to wonder :)

Thanks for the accurate info on the seedings. Jim Heaths artical is incorrect in say the winner of the York/Poquson game Tuesday is garenteed a spot in the regional tournament.

Jim Heath is correct in saying that the York-Poquoson winner is guaranteed a berth into the Region I tournament.
They tied for second and second place comes with an automatic berth. Under Bay Rivers District rules, the district tournament effectively serves as the tie-breaker between the two, with the team that finishes higher in it getting the second berth.
Thus, the winner of their game gets a regional berth.
The third berth will go to the loser of that game, UNLESS Grafton wins the tournament. Grafton's only way of making the regional tournament is to WIN the final.

So are you saying if Grafton wins, BRD will send four teams? It is my understanding the seedings for the district tournament are the final standings. Which means #1 New Kent and #2Poquoson will go to regionals. Thats why we have regular season tie breakers. York will go unless Grafton wins the district tournament. It's been like that for the past 6 years. 3 3 2 rotation. Correct me if I'm wrong but that is what the state web site says also.

Am not saying the BRD gets four regional berths. It gets three. Period.
Regular season tie-breakers are used only to set seedings for the district tournament. ....where second place is concerned, regular season tie-breakers do not determine regional berths.
The way Bay Rivers rules are now written, if two teams tie for second place, the one that finishes higher in the district tournament gets that second Region I tournament berth. That is why the winner of the Poquoson-York game gets a regional berth.
With New Kent getting one berth and the Poquoson-York winner getting a second, we will be left with one berth to decide.
That goes to Grafton if Grafton wins the tournament. If Grafton does not, the berth goes to the Poquoson-York loser.
If Grafton wins the tournament, the York-Poquoson loser does not go to the regional.
