ASHBURN AND MEANS NAMED TOP SPORTSCASTERS
When you hear the name Ashburn and Means it sounds like a Law Firm preparing for a case. And yes, they have been preparing for many cases but it has all been behind the microphone broadcasting high school basketball and baseball throughout the Northern Neck and Tidewater of Virginia on WKWI 101.7 Bay FM.

Carroll Ashburn and Demetrius Means received the Top Sportscasters Award for the best Outstanding Sports Coverage of High School Basketball at the 74th Annual Summer Convention by The Virginia Association of Broadcasters at the Hilton Hotel in Virginia Beach June 24, 2011.

Ashburn and Means have been broadcasting sports together for the past sixteen years at 101.7 Bay FM. At the end of the 2010-2011 basketball season they reached their 280th broadcast and are looking forward to reaching the magic number of their 300th basketball broadcast on radio during this coming 2011-2012 season.

Carroll and Demetrius are so grateful for the many opportunities throughout the years at WKWI. They would like to thank all of the hard working sales people at WKWI Radio. They would also like to thank, the many sponsors, Dennis Burchill, the general manager for all of his support, their family members, and the many fans who have supported them throughout the years.

“We could not have won this award without the Northern Neck and Tidewater community”. “You never make it in life on your own, God always has a Ram in the bush” Means said.
