Eudailey, Peterson, Little place well at Maymont
New Kent's Becca Eudailey, Lafayette's Heidi Peterson and York's Jack Little were among the local standouts Saturday in the Maymont Invitational, a festival of 5-kilometer races in Richmond that attracted many of the best runners from Virginia and even beyond.
In girls competition, Eudailey placed second among 106 competitors in 19 minutes, 51.05 seconds in the Coastal race, while Peterson was third in 20:16.82.
Grafton's Rachel Rabbitt led Bay Rivers entries in the top-notch Invitational race, placing 21st in a field of 92 in 20:46.61.
In the boys' elite Invitational, Little took ninth among 144 runners in 16:40.69.
In the Coastal race, Gloucester placed fourth as the Dukes' Kevin Speray came in 13th in 17:38.09.
In the Bronze boys race, Smithfield took third place behind third-place Nickolas Dunham in 18:06.33 and fifth-place Zac Basso in 18:20.28.
