Bethel 21-17. A very close battle. Good defense.

Bethel will win a hard defensive game but it will be a very good game... Kecoughtan CAN win this game if they force Bethel into mistakes and their coach comes up with a heck of a gameplan.... i see bethel winning 24-16

Bethel and Kecoughtan both played Phoebus about the same, both played well but turnovers blew any chances of ending the streak. Both teams play good defense. Both have good offenses I give Kecoughtan the big advantage on the ground matched with Bethels big advantage in the air. This game will be close and the team with the least amount of mistakes wins. Last year K-tan beat Bethel in most categories but Bethel won the turnover battle and won the game on strips (fumbles).

Just another tid bit... In the last 2 years Bethel has had two games as "Visitor" at Darling. Last year Hampton totally destroyed them.... This year Phoebus beats them in a close game... so I've yet to be sit on the "visitor" side and be part of a win.... Hopefully they fix that Friday night against Kecoughtan. Some say the side doesn't matter but on the visitor side we're 0-2 and on the Home side we're 7-1 in the last 2 years... (last year Phoebus spanked us on the home side)... so maybe there is some "home-field" advantage after all, even if it is the same field... (I know the Phoebus won't notice a difference!)

Very possible. Their defense is very good. Better coaching and they're possibly 5-1.

its possible but i think Bethel will bring it this week... you're right about Kecoughtan being 5-1 with better coaching... maybe this will be the week they finally have a well coached game... if by chance Kecoughtan did win, i wouldnt consider it an upset
i still got Bethel in a close one BHS by 8

Bethel, Warwick, K-tan and Woodside are all pretty evenly matched. Some have better running games some have better passing games. All have pretty good defense. If either of these teams beats one another you could hardly call it an upset. It will come down to turnovers.
If Woodside beats Phoebus that would be an upset even if Woodside is still undefeated when they play which looks like a safe bet.

why would K-tan pick bethel for homecoming?......I give bethel a slight advantage being that it is K-tans homecoming...players are not focused on the game....

Defensive Coordinator Dan Thompson has been the staple to the Warriors stability on D. I don't think Coach Woodlief is doing a terrible job in some of the games I watched. Implementing passing efficiency with a young qb with unreliable mechanics has to affect your play calling. So I hope next year will pick up even though the DE loss will be huge.

Bethel actually switched it's homecoming.... from this week back to Heritage. So I assume it was just bad planning thinking that they were home team this week instead of visitors. I personally wouldn't schedule a weaker team if it was up to me. I don't know that I'd want Phoebus for homecoming, but Woodside, Warwick, even K-tan would be good picks....
Bethel will have to play tough on Friday, K-tan is playing for their playoff lives so they will be bringing it. Bethel still has Warwick and Woodside so they can't afford to drop this one either. I think this could be the game of the week as far as close scores.

Personally I've seen some things from a few coaches I'd do differently however it's easy to make these calls on the bleachers. Doing it on the field is another story. If K-tan was winning some of these close games you wouldn't hear any complaints about the coaching. You don't hear a lot of complaining about coaches that are winning. Heck most were raving about Bethels offense till they lost to Phoebus then suddenly they were attacking the OC saying he needs to be replaced... HOGWASH...
I've only seen 2 K-tan games this year in person but I've watched the film on almost all of them. The coach has done a few things I wouldn't do....but that's why he's on the sidelines and I'm in the stands. I wonder if he told his punter to punt the ball straight up in the air while in their own endzone and let the phantoms recover it for a touch down? I wonder if he told the d-line line to wrap up Lyles at the 30 yrd line and then let him go? Get off the coach blame game sometimes the players have to make the plays on the field.
anyway, GO BRUINS!

Right and I doubt the coach told Brown to throw 2 INT's for touchdowns against PHS....SMH

The attempted punt was tipped, that's why the ball went straight-up in the air.

I was there, tipped punts don't go straight up..... they would deflect. Even blocked punts don't go straight up. The snap was dropped and he was already pinned against the back of the endzone and when he picked it up they (phantoms) were right there. Not to say someone didn't touch it but the ball woulda went straight up anyway IMO.

Yeah but when you continually put the players in bad situations, what do you expect?
Ahhh.. the punter!! #5 is not a punter he's a RB & DB as well as Kick & Punt Returner, but not a punter. I guess Kecoughtan had no one else to do the job so he stepped up to the position. Of Kecoughtan's 3 loses I can point to the coach bad play calling and time-outs on 2 of them;
1. The Warwick Game: The running game was decent the entire game and Kecoughtan was inside Warwick's 25-30 yard line 4 times with 3rd and less than 3 and you pass. Do what got you there and run for the yardage or better yet change up the snap count every now and then.
2. The Gloucester Game: You are winning 27-7 should have been more; with 5 min. left in the game you have the ball and you are passing (resulting in INT's) They haven't stopped the run all game!!
3. The Woodside Game: Again the run is working, plus poor management of your timeouts #15 from Woodside is good, I would have put a man on him, especially in the 2nd half and tell him where ever he go you go. Basketball term "A Box & One". And then you ripped the kids in the endzone at the end after the game for not producing........C'mon Man
One thing I can say about Phoebus & Hampton, if they know there running game clicking, they will POUND IT, POUND IT, POUND IT. Good old smash mouth football.
Maybe this is the game Kecoughtan gets it altogether and beat one of the top teams in the district....I'm calling it close KHS 20 BHS 17

Wow you are right on point...I was sitting there watching the woodside game...and I said the exact same thing...especially at the end of the game..you run the ball all the way down to the 40...you run it 2 or three more times...and you kick a field goal to win the game...they left one time out on the clock when the game was over

lol i was wondering the same thing, Kecoughtan has been able to run on everybody this season why not run it down teams throats when the game is on the line, Kecoughtans QB isnt all that good yet you cant let him make passing decisions when the game is on the line HE WILL CHOKE! let cannon and pope run the ball the whole game mix in a FEW designed QB runs or end arounds and dont pass more than 4-5 times a game IF ANY and you will beat Bethel if your defense holds as strong as it has all season, other wise Bethel will win big

Well, if you were there, you must have been sleeping. The ball was tipped and the referee indicated it was touched. I watched the film.....it was touched. AND, who makes you an authority on how a football reacts after it is touched, deflected, batted, dropped, or blows-up?

I won't make excuses.... Bethel stunk it up tonight. It was probably the hardest game to watch. At least last year when Phoebus and Hampton buried us they were just better. You can't win with 4-5 INT's and 2-3 fumbles. Hat's off to Kecoughtan they did what they had to do and that was win. Their defense was pretty good and I knew a 20 pt spot was too much to give them. Bethel played a little better in the second half and kept them from scoring or even really moving the ball but they still kept turning the ball over. Bethel scored with just over a minute to go and did a beautiful onside kick and at least one Bethel player had their hands on the ball but when they dug the players out of the pile a K-tan player had possession.
anyway time to move on to next week....

Great win, Great effort from this team.. Im not going to sit up here n down any team like I played tonight. I really want 5 teams from the pd to make the playoffs this year.. No one remembers in 1993 how good Bethel, Kecoughtan and Phoebus were..
This year is turning out to be one of the best, if someone pulls off the "impossible" it will. The district should have a "any given friday" feeling..

Kecoughtan finally did what they should have done in the other games...stick with the run. Also the defense is impressive. Though the penalties and turn overs absolutely killed Bethel. Good win.

great game kcoughtan ....man the formula is there now send max pressure and you beat bethel and currently that is correct kecoughtan just like phoebus pressured frank brown into some bad throws ...which caused some turnovers all in all great game plan and once again in a big game the Bethel OC fail...never adjusting and running the same routes with the same results ....incomplete....incomplete.....int.....designed plays to the same side of the field for the most part of the game with long and intermediate pass routes....once again no slants.....RB screens, no simple play that would slip the RB out b/c the LB's didn't cover him ....no short routes....no plays to the middle of the field to drop the LB's out of the box .....bad...... bad..... bad
I said it before and I will say it again if the OC refuse to change his offense then he at least need to go to the booth b/c he struggles to read defensive coverages ....i'm not going to count the penalties either b/c alot of those false starts and holding really fall back on the OC calling the same plays that kecoughtan easily covered leaving Frank Brown with no open receiver and forcing him to extend plays resulting in sack or penalty false starts happen when the OC continues to take tooooo much time getting plays in ....causing confusion ......yuck too bad i like this team this year but i said it already this team has great talent but awful offensive coaching that can not contend with better coaches .....congrats to kecoughtan excellent game plan and great win

I knew Kecoughtan was better than their 3-3 record. I wonder will Bethel now slip with games against Warwick and Woodside left? They're showing a big weakness not being able to adjust their offense to what the defenses are throwing at them. Hope they did not lose that hunger they displayed against Hampton.
And congrats to Pope...boy you balled out! Been a long time coming since those YH days
