All-star games back in Hampton this week
BY JASON JORDAN | jjordan@dailypress.com
Remember this time a year ago when Phoebus High’s Brent Vinson made a diving 65-yard reception to set up the game-winning touchdown for the East?
Or when Bethel’s Jamel McLean was throwing down monstrous dunks while teammate Terry Thomas was draining 3-pointers to help the East win?
Or when Grafton’s Alex Shoemaker blasted a three-run homer in the sixth inning to lift the East in softball?
Weren’t there? No problem.
This week is a chance to catch the next wave of Virginia’s top graduated seniors in the Virginia High School Coaches Association All-Star games.
The week begins Tuesday with the girls and boys basketball games at the Hampton Coliseum, starting at 6 p.m.
On Wednesday, the girls' volleyball game start at 4 p.m. at Christopher Newport University's Freeman Center, followed by the girls' soccer game at 5:30 and the boys soccer game at 7:30. Both are on CNU's soccer field.
Then on Thursday, CNU plays host to the softball game at 10:30 a.m. and the baseball game at 2 p.m.
The week closes with football at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Darling Stadium.
