I guess a let down was inevitable and with the starting QB also out, a highly charged up Poquoson team really took it to Lafayette. Lafayette's runnng attack was great, but the passing attack was obviously on the bench as was a clean running of the offense- 4 procedure calls, QB fumble, 0-2 in passing with 1 INT. On Poquoson's side, tough never go down running and a shifty, accurate passer. The Poquson QB repeatedly eluded the rush and rolled out to either pass to one of his wide open receivers or take off and run. Poquoson really stopped themselves in the 1st half more than the Lafayette defense did. The defense seemed unemotional- the fight was taken to them by Poquosn rahter than the other way around as it was with Courtland and Smithfield. Lafayette just had trouble with Poquosn's runners at times and could never really get to the QB. Add zto the the Smithfield Punt return coverage problems, a Poquoson KO return to the Lafayette 1 yard line- to setup their TD (poor coverage again- we squibed the rest of the game). Add a couple of FG's and Poqusons's only offensive TD came as time expired- it was the first defensiveTD Lafayette has given up-and at 0:00. The Qb is out another week, so the repalcement Nate Kepa will need to sharpen his passing to some degree. But most importantly, the defense needs to step it up- they were flat tonite as much a Poquoson was charged up and never giving up. Their a good ballclub who gives it 110%. My hat is off to them- they will win some games this year.
