Southampton Academy built a 27-point lead in the first half which Hampton Roads Academy (2-1) could not recover. The Raiders went on to win the non-conference game 35-24.
Southampton’s William Doyle scored three touchdowns, two in the first half, and finished with 57 yards on 11 carries. Robert Marks added another 90 yards on 13 carries, and Michael Marks contributed 71 yards on eight carries and also returned an interception 51 yards for a touchdown.
For HRA, freshman Andrew Maser had another good game, carrying 14 times for 119 yards and two touchdowns.
