OLESCHOOL made the comment about giving the left one to be able to suit up just one more time, aint it the truth. Of course when you get as old as me might be closer to the truth to say you would give them both up to do it. Don't need them quite as much! Did make me curios about everyone on the board though. Thought it might be interesting to hear were and when from everyone before next weeks back and forthen starts.

Myself, Granby High School 1966 to 1969.

This should be interesting.

Deshler High School in Deshler, Ohio. Class of 1966. We didn't have a football team ... too small. We played baseball in the fall and spring.

My wife graduated from Granby in 1968.

King William High School 1981 - 84

Hardest hit I ever took was from a TE from NK in 82 or 83....I think that's why I have memory problems today - I think, I can't remember for sure....LOL!

Wow, we only had 4 takers on this poll? I expected a lot more response based solely on the number of high school football "EXPERTS" that we have on here, surely we have more former players on this board than only 4? Who would of guessed? <<OOOOOOOOOOOZING SARCASM - FYI>>

Ray HS, AZ, 1985-1987; Hardest Hit........Kick off team, against Florence HS. I was the sprint man and I had the return man dead in my sights. Next thing I knew I was on the side line. I still don't remember how I got on the side line; I was told I didn't make the tackle but someone from Florence is probably telling a great widow maker story and I am the subject of conversation.

Wyoming Valley West HS, Kingston, PA 74-76. Also wrestled and was a javelin chucker on the track and field team. Biggest hit was as a long snapper on punts. To this day, don't really know too well what happened but the punter got the **** ball. Not my favorite thing to do on the field but...

Warwick High School, Newport News 1972-1974. Baseball and Football. Played linebacker and my worst memory was having to cover Elvin Bethea from Ferguson (tight end/defensive end who later played for the Dallas Cowboys). Guy was as big as a house and he burned me with an out and up. At that time did not know a man that big could move that fast! Biggest thrill was upsetting Bethel (their only loss I believe).

Also played at the Apprentice School 1975-1979. (any former Builders on here?) Had the pleasure of quarterbacking for Norm Snead while he was Coaching there. Those were four great years. Played with some great guys. You're not a real football player until you work on an aircraft carrier for eight hours and then go play football for two hours (haha). Only to be young again! Best memory (not many to choose from here) - throwing winning touchdown pass in homecoming win. Worst memory - being blindsided at Massanutten Military Academy, suffering a separated shoulder, and the long, painful bus ride home.

Most famous quote from Coach Snead - "Springfield, you can't stuff 10 lbs of sh__ in a five pound bag". Now amplify that 100 times and play it after one of my many interceptions and you get the point.

Let's hear some more war stories.

That's funny stuff...I have an awesome Snead story as well. He stopped by the Apprentice School field one afternoon as we were winding down a practice...was shooting the breeze with Coach Janaro....Coach J's first stint as the HC at NNS, well he (Snead) threw 10 footballs from the 40 yard line to the endzone, he hit the cross bar dead center 10 out of 10 times and looked at Chuck Kearney, our QB at the time and asked - "Can you do that?", Chuck just laughed and walked away. I guess that was "NO".....it was an awesome display. Snead is a card...funny, funny guy to be around and he had a million stories for you. I don't think he ever grew up! Which is a good thing in my book.....gotta have that youthful enthusiasm in life, regardless of your age.
Another FUN guy to be around was Charlie Reamon, he played for the Bears with Butkus and the stories he told us about Butkus were freaking hilarious! He (Butkus) was one really mean S O B......on all accounts.

ok try this one. Not quite up to those standards but think you will get a kick out of it. After high school enrolled at Maryland primarly to get my draft deferment ( remember those) anyway sophmore year decided to try to walk on to the Maryland football team, several friends talked me into it. Got through 3 weeks of shorts and helmets and they give me a shot on the scout team. First full contact practice I go to block a guy playing defensive end and he almost tore my head off, thought I had been hit by a train. I was goofy for 5 or 10 minutes. Thought I was dead. When they finally got me to my feet I look over at one of the coaches and hand him my helmet. He says " What, you quitin" I said " Nope enlisting, Nam is safer than this" Coach **** near ****** himself laughing so hard. At the time it didn't mean a lot but that defensive ends name was Randy White.
