Menchville won the Peninsula District team championship and Jamestown won the Bay Rivers title in the just-completed high school golf regular season.

Golfers from both schools will compete in regional tournaments next Monday and Tuesday with the top teams and players from those tournament advancing to state tournaments the following week.

Menchville finished the Peninsula District’s 10-round, 180-hole format with 3,273 strokes. Gloucester was second with 3,330 and Warwick third with 3,353.

Jamestown won the Bay Rivers title with 2,769 strokes over 162 holes, ahead of Tabb (2,835) and Lafayette (2,847).

The Eastern Region tournament is Monday and Tuesday at Red Wing Lake in Virginia Beach. The

Medalists were Tabb’s Nick Swenson in the Bay Rivers District with a 71.29 average for his best seven rounds. Kecoughtan’s Joseph Evans won Peninsula medalist honors with a 75.2 average.

The top three Peninsula District teams and the top eight golfers not one one of those teams advance to the Eastern Region tournament next Monday and Tuesday at Red Wing Lake in Virginia Beach. Grafton will be the as the Bay Rivers’ fourth team after Tuesday’s regional qualifying tournament. The top seven individuals who aren’t part of the top four teams also will compete Monday and Tuesday at the Pendleton Golf Club in Caroline County.

Bruton’s Garrett Morgan was medalist of the Bay Rivers qualifier with a 72. Grafton edged New Kent for the team title, 317 to 319.
