I'd love to pick Warhill in this game but Southampton does have the size and experience to jam it down the throat of a young team. On the other hand, if Warhill can score the first two touchdowns, I think the game is over. Last week I saw a lot more pride in the Southampton band than I saw on the field. BTW, does Warhill have an on-sides kick-off play that can work? We did that to start the game and it worked out for us. Good luck to both teams and may the better team win.

Was having a little fun up there but really think Warhill can pull this out. You notice certain things about them when you watch them play. Talent, they definetley have some. Raw, not fully developed but its there. Thier QB Cvengros has a lot of potential 6-1, 180 and only a freshman. They are well coached, and they definietley listen. Few penalties and while they don't always make the block or tackle they are at least in the right place to do so. Guts and heart, you would be hard pressed to find a team with more anywhere. If they can keep it close early and frustrate Southampton a little think they can pull it off.

I'ts going to be interesting to see what if any effect Warhill is going to have on Jamestown and Lafayette as far as the talent pool. After watching Warhill no doubt there are some kids there that either one of those coaches would like to have had.

Southampton may be struggling but they are still a Varsity prgram. Warhill is not there yet. Lions will get into the end zone again this week, that is a start.
Southampton 35
Warhill 7

Gotta give Warhill the nod here. Lemn and his bunch will put it all together and pull out a big one in front of the home crowd. By the way, I give the coaches kudos. It cant be easy being in a first year program, but every game the coaches have the kids ready to play. My Pick...Warhill 21, Southampton 17

Last year Kendall Green , their best RB was at Lafayette and I could see in limited play his talent. I was hoping he was in Lafayette's district, but rats!, he went to Warhill. He is going to a very good back. The split will have an effect on both Jamestown and Lafayette. How much for Lafayette is unknown. But the VHSL was going to push both schools to Div 5 thus year if we had not commited to another high scholl 2 years ago. The PD would not have taken us. The talk was joining a new district of Div 5 schools, mostly from the east side of the Rchmond area- long travel and no neighbor rivalries.

Any idea on how that split worked out. Heard as much as 70 percent of the kids at Warhill came from Lafayette but don't know if thats true or not. If it is that could mean a pretty big hit. Green is going to be good, how bout Cvengros the QB, any idea were he would have been going? That kid looks like he is going to be a stud up the road.

it's going to come down to who scores first, both teams are 0-4 and it should be an awesome match-up. Southhampton has a huge line, but really nothing else. If Cvengros can get it to Curtis Ingram, it's game over. And expect Kendall Green to have a good night on the rush.

I go with warhill. We'll be partying in the "burg" after tonight :thumb:

NKD...70% is pushing the number on the rezoning (split)...JCC tried to keep as close to a 50/50 as they could but I am sure that it leans in favor one way or the other. The Cvengros kid would have been Wheelers and also Osgood, Smith, Green, etc. but the rezoning took care of that. I think that Paul is going to be very challenged over these next few years since he had the biggest draw until now?

Most of the players at Warhill would have gone to Lafayette. I think the number was 70%, if not higher. Very few formerly JHS bound players are at Warhill. This makes Lafayette's season this year even more impressive.

I doubt if the players at Warhill would have had much effect on this years Lafayette team. When you look at the roster the Lafayette varsity is primarily Juniors and Seniors. Now next year and the year after that might be when you start to see some sort of adverse effect from the re zoning.

Some students were rezoned from Jamestown to Lafayette, so Lafayette gains some from Jamestown in addition to losing them to Warhill.
