Jamestown coach Ryan Turnage knows there’s always the outside chance that a player can get hurt, but recently he’s been hit with a flurry of injuries at key positions.
Quarterback Mike Laycock sat out of last week’s win over York after he suffered a knee injury late in the Lafayette game the previous week. He is probable for Friday’s game at Bruton. Also safety Chris Keltner is out for the season after he broke his leg in the Eagles’ loss to Smithfield and lineman Ryan Kasemayer will be out for a few weeks after injuring his elbow.
“Every team goes through injuries,” Turnage said. “We’ve just had a few more hit us in key positions.”
Rakeem Pressey and Sebastian Beecroft split time at quarterback in Laycock’s absence, Rory Dillon replaced Keltner and Turnage is using different linemen to replace Kasemayer.
“We’ve got to have guys step up,” Turnage said. “We had those guys out last week and beat a tough York team. We did what we had to do to win. That’s what we have to do now.”
