Ashy,
Now that you have a user name on here, I was expecting one of your long, thoughtful, insightful BRD Football analysis. You've gone quiet!? Everything OK? You must be lifting 101.835% of the time and haven't found the time to enlighten us all!
I'm also interested in knowing your thoughts on the addition of Warhill. BRD teams will have a 10 game schedule this year that is completely made up of district contests. With the way Power Points played itself out last year, this season it looks like the only way a BRD D-4 team will make the playoffs is if they win the district out right. 2nd place may be on the outside looking in. Looking at things from a stand point of what teams are returning next year, you have to figure that the D-4 teams will most likely end up 1-2-3 & 4.
Give us one of your patented breakdowns!!!!!

Well Well Well, Wayne how have you been? Are you ready for my thoughtful insights? Lets just clear something up first, I havent been liftin for 101.835% of the time, where do you get a ridiculous number like that? I have been lifting 111.789%. Will Warhill be a D-4 team in region one now? Unfortunately as all of the great minds on this blog know is that the BRD has gotten weaker by the seasons, much weaker. I dont believe, Wayne, that if you do not win the district outright you will be at home. Remember now that Riverbend High School is moving up to AAA in 07-08. As long as Warhill can win a few ball games, which they are very capable of there should be two teams from D-4 and one from D-3. So now are you all ready for my famous predictions for the 07-08 year.

In Alphabetical Order:

Bruton: A very, very tough team, hasnt been a force since Rojas. Which was about two years ago, now he plays at W&M. With Mark Tyler (1st team all district QB gone and Brett Neve gone) I dont see how on offense this team will be effective. Bruton will win a few but they too have been rebuilding, even though they consistently only have 20-25 players come out for the team i give them kudos for playing their hearts out every friday night.

Grafton: Lets see, losing Walton at the helm will HURT more then they expect, I believe they need to go out of the system to hire a new coach b/c the power- I they run will be unaffective this year, grafton never had a clear number two back last year, Downing will have to be the leader this year b/c the team is on his shoulders now. There ILB's are the heart of the defense. This is a very intriguing team year after year so we will see.

Jamestown: Hahahaha, you guys **** me off so now you will pay with my rude statements. Wayne be prepared. Jamestown, you have finally caught up to the rest of the football world, yall have got off your lazy butts and have began to lift.:ranger: For you J'town players I am just curious on what type of offense and defense yall are going to run this year. Lets hope your offense doesnt consist of throwing it deep 99.9% of the time and have it turned over and then yall try to run and get negative yards. I mean yall have a D1 lineman, yall should be dominant. Now on defense lets hope yall dont run the give up 30 points a game defense. Jamestown will improve though I am a realist and with the addition of warhill and the weak D3 teams the Eagles are very capable of finishing .500.

Lafayette: With the addition of Warhill, Lafayette will be affected in the long run. Without Brandon moyler their seconary will be exposed, plus their tackling was atrocious last year. Likenauger will be the commander of that offense, but year in and year out Coach Paul Wheeler is prepared and is by far one of the best, if not the best coach in the BRD. Remeber he is the only coach to ever win a state championship since the BRD has been in existence.

New Kent: What can we say about NK. There glory days of dominance in single A are over. They had there one year in AA in which they won a state title. Remember it was stripped due ineligible players. They are in their rebuilding process. They had good wins last year over Jamestown and Southampton. They were one game away from making the playoffs. they lose their big lineman in Jimmy Handler but they do have some speed and they must build on that.

Poquoson: 0-10, where can you go from here. From my experience the only way you can go is up. Only three years removed from the state championship game, the Bull-Islanders have been deep in the playoffs before. With work horse Mike Bell gone the Bull-Islanders will have to rely on Fiedler to handle the load. Even though there record does not show it they were not the worst team in the BRD. They hung with teams last year James Monroe, SMithfield and Tabb.

Southampton: What is there to say about these Indians. Always running there mouths, and always making that weak D3 playoffs. If theres something good about them is that they have beaten Smithfield 15 or 16 consecutive years running. I believe there best running back is graduating (Darnell Lee) which is good for everyone else but there Division 1 size line will still be a nusense for the rest of the BRD.

Smithfield: Well these Packers will be packing it up early this upcoming year. Due to the loss of Ed Hamlin is HUGE. He balanced out the Packers running attack. Now that he will be at Hargrave Military academy everyone will only have to concentrate on Dyrell Roberts and Benjamin Jefferson. You shut those two down on both sides of the ball and the Packers are very vulnerable. Also there lineman are undersized but quick, get a hold of them and they are done. Sorry Wayne i kno that you dont like me saying this but it is true.

Tabb: Tabb returns 15 out of 22 starters from last years team. Corey Legister who was a 1st all district running back returns for his senior season. Tabb who shocked many now have a bulls eye on their chest, and they will be tested. With head coach Matt Lawson getting ready for his 4th season at the helm for the Tigers i expect many great things out of them. Are they playoff bound? If the fix their mental error from last season and if the Wing-T offense stays consistent the Tigers should be a very dominant force. Tabb also returns 8 players from there number one defense in Region 1 last season. One last statistic Tabb lost their four games by a combine total of 20 points. (Courtland 20-14), (Lafayette 14-9), (Southampton 12-10) and (Smithfield 27-20). Remeber Tabb is very dedicated to football lifting 3 days a week and running 2 days a week. If you do not believe me ask your schools baseball team when they come to Tabb to play, i know they see us out there.

Warhill: The Lions arethe new kids on the block. With the new zoning up in WJCC the Rams will be hit hard. The Lions should be some what competitive not this year but in a few years to come due to the fact that they take many freshman, sophmores, and juniors. I expect great things out this team with brand new facilities and their own field in all, but NOT THIS YEAR.

York: By far iI thought that this team was the worst team in the district. Why is it year after year the falcons schedule football teams created by new high schools? The falcons on bright spot is the Edwards Yeo connection, even though Yeo didnt score a touchdown last year. Through my inside sources i hear that york is now using BFS. (bigger, faster, stronger) program. That is the same program that Tabb uses and look at them now. The falcons are capale of pulling out one to two wins in this up coming season.

Now here is my standings of the BRD next year.

(1) Tabb- 10-0
(2) Smithfield- 8-2
(3) Lafayette- 7-3
(4) Grafton- 6-4
(5) Southampton- 5-5
(6) Jamestown- 5-5
(7) New Kent- 4-6
(8) Bruton- 4-6
(9) Poquoson-3-7
(10) York-1-9
(11) Warhill- 0-10

* I know kind of bias, but so what Im not cocky, Im confident.

* I have heard of a rumor that Southampton might be moving to single A in a few years. has anyone heard the same.

*Last thing Lynn you should do a poll on this, DO you think that AA should expand the playoff teams from 8 to possibly 12. I know AAA has expanded due to the fact that 8-2 in the Eastern Region cant even make the playoffs.

*Until next time in case I dont see ya, good morning, good afternoon, and goodnight.

Nice breakdown Ashraf, but you KNOW I gotta dispute my Pack going 8-2 next season. You and some other people are in for some surprises from the Packers next season. Dyrell will be well complimented in the back field next season. I do agree with you in one respect, the loss of Eddie Hamlin AND Micah Boone will sting but we have very capable backs returning next season to fill those spots. BJ Jefferson graduating leaves a couple big holes to fill also but again we have some very capable ballers returning. It'll be fun to see things develop (as usual)......only advice I can give you is to strap that helmet on tightly, someones gonna lose some fillings! LOL!
BTW - my wisecrack about lifting 101% whatever, was just a friendly poke at the J-town/Tabb bunch on here earlier that started the "no we are - no we are" dance about who was lifting more frequently.....just showing my sick sense of humor again!
Keep it real!

WOW, just wow what happened to Micah, he graduate too and BJ. I might have to renig on my previous statements about Smithfield. About what i said about lifting, i know that was a joke Wayn , i do have a comical bone in me. It was Jamestown that have their panties on too tight when it comes to the committed/lifting issue. So now w/ these enormous losses that Smithy faces Dyrell will be forced to play in the backfield. If i was Frazier i would go back to his J'town days and throw it deep to Dyrell 99.9% of the time. Alright i am done ragging on Smithy, Wayne I am prepared to hear your rebuttle.:fencing:

Yep Micah and BJ both will be graduating as will Bryce Carter, Omar Wells, Herb Porter, the state of VA's BEST Punter Brookes Crawford - he was a weapon by himself, and Mike Enslen PK and a couple of others.....
The BRD will get to see - now this is just my guess, from a fans perspective - in the backfield next year should some combination of CJ Jones, BJ Jones, Ralph Williams, Tyrone Seaborne and of course Dyrell. It's going to be fun to watch these young and hungry RB's prove the nay sayers wrong. A couple of years ago, a whole lot of FB players in the BRD got to watch the back of CJ's jersey until a late season mishap caused him to miss the last two games. So we'll see. As usual it'll be best to let things materialize on the field each week then we can analyze it later - it's much easier to judge than to predict - LOL!
In all seriousness, I don't expect any letdown in Smithfields upcoming season. In some ways, I think we'll be better. OL to begin with. Almost the entire line will be returning, they are bigger, stronger and a year wiser. Look for Derek Artis to turn into an absolute beast this year. He really turned it up a notch late last season, I expect him to come out on fire from week 1. He'll be hard to contain.
I also expect that we'll have a sophomore WR starting this season - no names yet, I'll let him be a surprise, everyone will know his name by the end of the season.
Proceed with caution - Packers will be more than able to inflict losses on opponents this upcoming season. We like the doubters, we like being considered the underdogs, we feed off of it.:mad2:
Glad to have you back Ashy - looking forward to trading shots with you again this season - LOL!:boink:

J-town - you're correct.....maybe I have him mixed up with someone else? I'm older than the hills - LOL! I see his profile has him listed as 17......could be a simple misunderstanding on my part! Or he's a POSER!? At any rate - I like trading jabs with whomever he/she is....could ASHRAF be SARAH F. - jumbled up? Hmmmm - got me wondering now! LOL!

BRDPLAYER61
04-04-2007, 06:57 PM
Naw man, i started at offensive tackle. I did play a little bit of defensive tackle when we played on that hot a** monday. I know why you remeber me at defensive tackle. I think i had 3 or 4 plays at defensive tackle but i sacked the s*** out of laylocke. I put your boy on the ground, i remeber that vividly i swam the crap out of one of your big ogre like lineman. If you do not believe me check your film. HAVE A NICE DAY!!!!!:kev: (IDK y i put this, its jus so friken awesome.)

Ashraf (Sarah F) you are a TRIP kid! Have you ever thought about being the DP's student correspondent for Tabb High School? You could really do a good job of promoting the athletes at Tabb in the good old Daily Press. Does anyone know if the DP still does that. I know Phillip Hines was doing that at Smithfield during his Junior and Senior years......you should consider it - send Lynn an e-mail to let him know that you're interested.
**** - is it August yet?!?!?!?!?!
I'm going :fish2: - later.
