Game of the Week - Poquoson at York - Thursday

The best matchup this week has to be the Poquoson/York game on Thursday. York, who only has one game this week, will put Will Lamb on the mound to try to shutdown the Islanders. The Islanders play Lafayette on Tuesday and will probably look beyound them and save Adam Crockett for York. It should make for a great game. Look for Poquoson to pull it out in a tight game.

OTHER KEY GAMES
Grafton at Lafayette - The Clippers try to get back in the win column against a tough Lafayette squad. There's no telling what the lineup will be as the Clippers re-group coming off of 4 straight losses. Clippers bats will come alive and they will win by 5.

Powhatan at Tabb (Sat) - This should be a great non-district matchup with BRD leading Tabb going against a powerhouse in Powhatan. The Tigers will find out how they matchup within the Region as they play the doubleheader. Look for the Tigers to split the DH with Powhatan in two closely contested games.

My predictions...

York-8 Poq-6
-Will Lamb is a much better pitcher than Adam Crockett. Crockett is still good, but I can't see him shutting out a good team. That is the capability that Lamb has. This should be a close game regardless. I don't see either team giving up if the other team has a 4 or 5 run inning. If Lamb is on top of his game though, then I see York taking this one.

Grafton-6 Lafay- 2
-I have seen Lafayette play like garabage and I've seen them play like contenders. Grafton has been going through a slump trying to get their team together. If both teams are on their a-game I see Grafton taking this one by a couple of runs hands down.

Tabb-9 Pow-3
Tabb-6 Pow-4
-I haven't seen Powhatan play this season yet, but I have heard that they aren't doing so hot. Tabb started out slow this season, but has improved every game. With a week off of playing for Tabb they will need to find their rhythm again, especially since they lost to Powhatan last year in Regionals. They play two games this week before Saturday, that might get them back in baseball rhythm or it could hurt the pitching depth.

Should be a good game! What is Croketts record? I thought his pitching record was undefeated. Never the less York/Poq should be a good game. Not sure who to go with on this one. I say York might have the edge with their hitting. Both pitchers are very good.

York/Poq~ gotta go with York although it will be a tough game all the way through. York will not shut them down. COuld go either way! This game will effect both teams.

Laf/Grafton~ I am going with Laf this game. I think this game will be hard fought game. Once Grafton gets their pitching back on track they will be back.

Tabb/Paw~ I think they will split.

Poquoson/York - I have to change my previous prediction and give the nod to York now. Poquoson needed Adam Crockett on the mound to sneak by York. I don't see Poquoson's number 2 pitcher beating York's number 1.

I agree. I didn't understand why Poquoson pitched their #1 against Lafayette and did not save him for York.

I wondered that too. Crokett would give York a run for their money. He is every bit as good as their number 1 pitcher. In fact I think they have the same record. Correct me if I am wrong. They are both good!! But as we know in baseabll it takes more than pitching to win a game. I think it will come down to who hits better. Both teams also have strong hitting clubs from everything I have read and seen. We will see today!!! Good luck
