The question was, does feebus prefer to win a state championshp or would they rather beat the Crab? The answer Mr. Squires has since changed.
I'm not going to say too much...... but all feebus can say about this season is, "We beat HAMPTON twice"!!!
The only thing that will be remembered about the '07 season is HAMPTON x 2!!
P.S. When you're from a 'Program", then you now understand that when you don't bring home a Championship you will defined as a loosing squad!!!
This definition will come from the other members of the "Program".

17 state champions in how many years.... Hampton is about 110 years old or close to it. Phoebus is only 30 years old.... Just because Hampton won a state championship with leather helmets dont hate.
By the way, how is a CRAB your mascot when a CRABBER is someone who hunts CRABS? Shouldn't your mascot be a old man wearing a rubber suit with crab nets hanging of him. :second:

I have never seen so many cry babies in my life. Most of you don't realize that we are from the same city. I can remember when Bethel was Hampton's main rivalry for years until their program went south. Until this year, Glad to see they are coming back. Now Phoebus has a program to talk about and with good reason. But because Hampton's Football team lost 2 games this year to a very good Phoebus team does this give you guys the right to hammer Hampton? 17 state titles yes but I believe at least 12 of them were in the last 25 years. Not to mention the games they lost in the state finals. So many Eastern Regional Championships you lose count. So lets be straight on one thing, Pheobus has a very good program right now and everyone should be happy about it. Hampton will be back, They always have. ( at least until Mike Smith retires) If you compare the last 30 years sense Phoebus was built against the last 30 years at Hampton, "NO COMPARISON" Now that is a "PROGRAM" Something the Phoebus Team is working to accomplish.
We need to stop all the trash talking on here and get back to chatting about how good a program that our teams have now or will have in the future.

Very good point. Excellent point and very valid. However, you have to understand that Phoebus fans while passionate about their team are not very objective when it comes to other teams, especially Hampton. No matter how you slice that cake i.e. break down Hampton's dynasty versus Phoebus's dynasty, for some reason they view winning 3 Championships in 30 years as being greater than 17 state championships, numerous district titles and making the playoffs something 34 out of the last 37 years.

You talk like the state championship Hampton won 3 seasons ago is like 200 years old. Yall won last year, we won the year before, neither Hampton nor Phoebus won this year. Simple and to the point. You guys just can't face the fact that Hampton is still relevant in the district, region and state when it comes to football. Open your ears and eyes, when you talk championships and contenders, you have to include Hampton as well as Phoebus.

The Phantoms talk about the past too. Hampton always comes back. In Coach Smith's 35 years Hampton has won 12 state titles, numerous ER and PD titles, and been nationally ranked several times. How many titles has Phoebus won in those years? Just because about 10 years ago Phoebus finally became a force to be reckoned with doesn't mean that it is all over for Hampton. Did a PD team play in the state final this year? No. That is the main thing that will be remembered for years to come. Hampton, Bethel, and Phoebus had great seasons. Many teams would love to have their records. None of them have any reason to hang their heads. Phoebus will always trash talk and hate on Hampton just like Bethel used to. That is what rivalries are about. Good sportsmanship also gives credit where credit is due. It is a shame that this site is filled with trash talking and whining. Thank you Warwick fan for agreeing, I know it isn't because you are a Crabber. :) The football season is over and anything can happen next year. I'm sure everyone in the PD would love to beat Hampton, Phoebus, or Bethel. We'll have to see what happens.

I am absolutely confused about this comment. It is a HAMPTON Crabber fan who started the post talking about WHY Phoebus lost over the weekend. That deserves a hammering by the Phoebus fans reminding them that they were dominated by us. Are you paying attention to the entire thread? We didn't start it, a Crabba fan started it. And if he wants to attempt to rub Saturday's game in our face, HE deserves to be reminded that the same Phoebus team that lost Saturday SMACKED around the 2007 edition of Hampton.

You must consider the source phantom_aggie. Crabbers'D-Crew42 (http://hrvarsity.com/forums/member.php?u=1668) runs his mouth year-year-after-year. He started last year and fell off the planet at the end of the season. This year he made his promises on what Hampton was going to do to Phoebus. He was wrong again. Phoebus didn't get to the big dance this year, but they will get another opportunity next year, and yes Hampton will drop the regular season match-up and the regional if they can advance.
Let the Crabber fans continue to talk about their 17 championships, most of them before Moses descended Mt. Sina.

So that drops you right back to what you know best....
Hey don't feel too bad because the '07 HAMPTON team will be remembered as unsuccessful and will not go down in the history books of winning seasons. This year's squad goes down in the history books as a loosing season.
A "Program" only produce winning seasons if they win a State Championship!!
So to the guy who said Hampton had a good season, probably hasn't been a part of a program.

You were correct in saying, you're the champions of the PD.... but you must understand that the champions of the PD are losers in 2007!!!!!
You can go back to last year when you lost to the champions of the PD(da Crab), then you ended up with a win @ the end of the year. You were considered a champion then. But not this time because your results were different.
Even though last year you didn't feel like a champion because of that lost to the Champions of the PD(HAMPTON), you were still considered the Champions.
My wife is from Niagara Falls, NY. She loves the Buffalo Bills. The Buffalo Bills went to the Super Bowl four(4) yrs in a row. They lost every single year. Were they considered champions........? NO!!!

I love feebus and their fight to be recognized. We will recognize you only when you win. You see the period after the word win. That's because you won't get congratulated or recognize when there is a loss after your last win. Please don't misunderstand me.... Mommy..., uncle Bootsie, aunt Gerald and all them..., see they still supposed to say all the correct things. "You did good" and " "you're # 1". But, come on now........ If you're a real Champion then you know that your last contest wasn't of championship caliber. And even that would be okay if you still ended up with the win... but you ended up with a LOSS which is defined by CHAMPIONS as a LOSER.
P.S. we can talk about next season after you realize you're a loser...
The Program defines Hampton High's 2007 season as unsuccessful;(loser) They can't be compared to the best of nothing!
That's the bottom line!!!!
Can't be considered a program if you loose to a loser twice in one season...eat those apples...forget the fact that you have a program..because that once was...the NEW WORLD ORDER has been created on 100 Ireland st.

When people talk about football in the Hampton Roads area the first high school they look for is Hampton High. No matter what state I go to when they ask me where I am from the first thing the ask after I say hampton is DID YOU GO TO HAMPTON HIGH
Just being real man. You guys are having a good decade yes. But when you talk trash of course people are going to bring up the past. that's just how it goes. When you compare great players, someone always brings up players from the past.
You can never compare Hampton and Phoebus.
I bet most of those people that ask you about Hampton outside of the area are 35 + years old...ask the 20 something and see what kind of response you get...you are probably speaking to people that haven't recognized the way things are now and have been for a while now..you Hampton people need to move over and understand that this plateau is reserved for Phoebus and it once was Hamptons...I give you that much...talk to me in the next 10 years and we will really see how the power has really shifted...Coach Dee will run Coach smith into retirement...

I'm not mad @ you for saying any of that. You're even accurate in your facts.
I am just explaining the mind set that The Program takes.
Here's another example you provided for me......
NO!!!
This year you are not the Champion. You are a LOSER!!!

no it doesn't help...becaue you have to look at it on the other end of the spectrum...there is only one team that is going to win the last game...I think you are looking at this in a very arrogant Hampton High way...and really not being realistic. Football is big business man. I still play and when we don't when championships its considered a failure. Coaches get fired all the time because they did not win the big game. That's the truth. I'm not being arrogant. I been in this business for 9 years now. Just getting to the post season is not good enough in this day and age.
I will ask you this, If you were an owner and your coach gets you to the post season every year for 10 years but never wins a championship. Then a big time winner like a Phil Jackson is available, you would not fire your coach and hire Phil Jackson??

I just always feel that when kids win State Championships they get noticed even more by colleges. It seems like every time you hear about big name recruits they talk about how many titles or what the teams win lose record was. It looks better for their resume because they are labled as winners.
That's the only reason I want these kids to not settle for just winning district and regional. I was hoping Phoebus would win state this year because it shows what type of talent we have in the area to go along with the living conditions.
I play in the AFL for the Grand Rapids Rampage. I listed the website in my sig.

I know they don't.. But people make moral victories all the time. for example, when the Eagle ALMOST beat the Patriots. Everyone was giving them credit, but at the end of the day they still lost. That's what I was trying to say. Look at Ohio State last season. The #1 team all year undefeated and then lose in the Championship game. To the alum that is considered a failed season because what was expected of them.

I may not no what it feels like to be a Champion...but I know how I prepared and how I played the game...and that was like a champion. It's just unfortunate that my first 2 years of varsity football was with a coach that wasn't capable of coaching a championship scheme.....I wouldn't think that a team like Phoebus, that won 20 straight games dating pass last years state title. Going underfeated in the pd, beating Hampton twice by a combined score of 40 points and all the other things that go into the season is in no way considered failure. The positive this season was winning the PD, the Regional and beating Hampton their rivals twice by a combined 40 points.
The only negative is they did not win the State Championship. The reason I consider that a big failure is because I know how much that haunts a kid not winning State when they had such a talented team.
That's why I am speaking the way I am. The team phoebus had was far better than any team in the state. So the expectations are that much higher. Now if they were just decent and made a good run then I would just say they had a successful season.
Do you understand now. If not then we don't see eye to eye

WOW!!!! moral values?? Man you are a piece of work. Well the coaches I played for are still coaching or are retired. Their system worked. Why would I tell a kid to settle for being #2????
You always tell a kid to be THE BEST!!
Not that I disagree with the point that you are trying to get across but, by your own definition, George Welsh didn't really have a system that worked considering that he never sniffed a national championship.
The bottom line in this silly argument is that Phoebus had a winning season which ultimately ended in disappointment. Does that make the entire season a failure? no. Does that mean that they failed to reach their ultimate goal? Yes.
Either way, the kids should be proud of committing to something bigger than themselves and they can take lessons that they learned this season into their lives and become successful human beings which is far more important than wearing a ring.

Did you mean NFC or AFC
I am still a pro athlete. I am living my dream. My dream was to be a pro football player which I am. I never said it had to be the NFL which I played in. I was just stating my opinion on why Phoebus' season was not a success.
You go and hand pick one or two sentences in my post and try to debate like that was my whole point.
If you want to say Phoebus had a successfull season then go right ahead. I never said it was 100% failure. I am not the only Hampton fan to post on this thread. I said you could look at it as a failure. It adds more motivation for next season.
but no you go your mind made up that I hate Phoebus because I played for Hampton. I did when I was in High School and that helped us smash you guys face everytime we played you.
But now I want any team from the Hampton Roads to succeed and win the State Championship if Hampton is not in the running.
To me it seems like you are settling or being the PD champ and Regional champ. I tell my cousins and my lil daughter never settle. ALWAYS strive to be the best at what you do. But in the end be thankful.
You still have a lot of growing up AH.

YOU are correct, we did not reach our goal of winning state, so it can be considered a failure. Our team looks to WIN state, not just getting there. They were not happy at just winning beating you twice, winning PD, or ER.. they wanted the ring... and they will fight all the more next year to bring the championship back where it belongs, the ER, the PD, city of Hampton..... 100 Ireland Street....:)

Here is the point that you are failing to grasp. Your thoughts about the Phoebus season do not matter, you are a Hampton guy. You can have all the thoughts about your team that you want, no one on the blue and gold side of the field needs your advice.
The Phantoms are cutting their own path and finding their own way. No one needs to think like "THE PROGRAM", except you Crabbers fans.

My name was set up to specifically announce my intentions on this board -- to crush you and your propoganda (long with Ripklaw), because I believe you both to be the enemy of legitmate thought and debate on these boards.
Your posts are a broken record of memories of your playing days and times of glory past for Hampton.
You can rant and rave all you want about the Program, the titles, the past, whatever you want. The bottom line, and the thing that eats away at you most, is that Phoebus has found their own successful path and has emerged from the giant red shadow.
Then Phantoms no longer define themselves by their games versus Hampton. Now is the time for you to learn from us -- get into the weight room and bulk those kids up because Phoebus is coming with that straight ahead, smashmouth attack again next year.
I like your weasly attempt to authenticate this thread by claiming that it was addressed to David Squires. In fact, this thread is in response to a question posed by Squires to the Phoebus fans. Are you one of them? No! Therefore, your opinions mean zero, zilch, nothing in this matter.

I'm really confused on the fuss between Phoebus and Hampton football squads. I have been looking at PD football for an awfully long time and I see it like this.
Phoebus is an up and coming program. Since 2000, they have been an excellent program. They have taken that program to the next level easily.
Bethel has seen most of its glory days past them by. Back in the day it was only one other team that can compete with them in the PD and the was Hampton. They had a very good year this year and hopefully they would
Menchville has always had steady team in the 70's and the early 80's. They were known for good rb's
Kecoughtan produced steady teams. David Woodlief was one of the best qb's in the PD throughout the 80's. Terry Noel was a beast as well for the 84', 85' teams
Ferguson-hit and miss. The Solomons, Bacotes were families that contributed to that program
Warwick-never got on track. Excellent b ball teams in the late 70's and early 80's
Lafayette-i'm still trying to remember how dominate they were suppose to be with LT and Ron Springs on that team in the 70's
Hampton- just carrying on tradition year in and year out. They are the measuring stick for the state
i know others will have difference of opinion, but this is what I observed basically from the 70's to the middle 90's

I would have to respectfully disagree with you. Phoebus has been in the 1-3 spot of the PD since 1986. Remember, the year Bethel actually won state in the 1990s they were number #3 in the district behind Hampton (9-1) and Phoebus (8-2). Phoebus actually beat them that year, and probably should have been in the playoffs in front of them. While I would agree that Phoebus took it to the next level since 2000, Phoebus has been hovering near the top for years in the PD. It is clear, that one of the best games of all time was the Phoebus/Hampton 1994 game... when Phoebus was 9-0 and Hampton was 8-0 . Most of the 1990s was Hampton #1, yes, but Phoebus was typically #2 in the District. AND the years that Hampton wasn't #1, Phoebus usually beat the team that beat Hampton... (ala Kecoughtan in 1993).

Though I missed the fact that Phoebus was in the #3 spot in 1986, you are only going back to then. What about the 70's and the early 80's? You mentioned that the most memorable game to you was the 94' Phoebus/Hampton battle. This is because both were undefeated at the time. This is my point exactly, when Bethel and Hampton played it was usually for everything. Both teams were undefeated most of the time when the met at the end of the season. Phoebus has not endured that consistently on the same level as those two teams use to battle. Even though Phoebus is catching up real fast!!
Kecoughtan and Menchville use to hover around that #3 spot alot as well (before the 86') season, but you don't see people talking about them as a powerhouse as much as Bethel/Hampton were. Kecoughtan use to play Hampton real tough (they beat them 3-0 in 84') I see your points, but I beg to differ on some.

It seems as though you're speaking to the masses and once again you have overwhelmed yourself with the Crab... Why do you do this to yourself? You sit up here and watch the boards and as soon as "The Program" speaks, you start twitching. Yes you named yourself after Hampton High...... but @ least you know whats best!
I don't mind you marketing me. Actually, I appreciate it. But can you make sure that you don't leave out things like college championships? I know you record everything I say so sure you know I have college championships don't you?

What is a Champion?
Champions get up one more time than they have been knocked down.
Champions give their all no matter the score.
Champions do what is right even when it hurts.
Champions know winning is not necessarily measured by the final score.
Champions take a stand for what is right, even when they stand alone.
Champions see every challenge as an opportunity.
Champions make those around them better.
Champions do the right thing even when no one is watching.
Champions dedicate themselves to prepare for success.
Champions put the success of others above individual achievement.
Champions understand winning is not the only thing.
Champions live by a higher personal standard.
Champions lay down their own desires for the benefit of others.
Champions willingly accept responsibility, and graciously deflect honor.
Champions never sacrifice what is best for something good.
Champions may fail...but they never quit.

Are you talking to me or to everybody else?
It seems as though you're speaking to the masses and once again you have overwhelmed yourself with the Crab... Why do you do this to yourself? You sit up here and watch the boards and as soon as "The Program" speaks, you start twitching. You named yourself after a high school, the mascot of your rival and you say that you don't think of them...? Are you sure that you don't have "The Program" on your mind constantly? Yes you named yourself after Hampton High...... but @ least you know whats best!
I don't mind you marketing me. Actually, I appreciate it. But can you make sure that you don't leave out things like college championships? I know you record everything I say so sure you know I have college championships don't you?
I am interested in your championship though and if you don't mind sharing, it may add a little value to what you say. Please feel free to validate that "softy" type aggression , with some accomplishment. By the way if you haven't heard then know that I LOVE CONTACT. Smack me up, Softy!
Oh yeah, what is a true Champion? You said you are a true champion, but you sound like a fake champion. How do I know you have a championship? We don't know you, all we know about you is you love the Crabbers. In fact, so much so that when you are sharing your knowledge and experiences "KRABBER" is what we see!!!!!
P.S. My birthday is 12/24 and I most certainly will enjoy my holidays.
Why don't you forget about the Crab for bout a week? Then come back and "Smack" me up please!!!
I'm not sure which is more difficult, watching you spit out the same tired drivel post after post, or watching you exhibit your complete inability to comprehend what others are posting.
Ultimately, I think that it's probably watching you struggle to understand simple concepts that is sadder.
Good luck with your past, it is all you have.
