Gloucester's Saulman headed for Mary Washington
By Dave Johnsondjohnson@dailypress.com
Gloucester softball first baseman Taylor Saulman has committed to attend the University of Mary Washington, where she will play for Dee Conway's team next spring.
Saulman was a part-time starter as a freshman and has been in the everyday lineup the last two seasons. She went into Wednesday's game at Heritage hitting .321 with eight RBI.
"She has the ability to play third base, too, though we haven't played her there," Dukes coach Red Lindsay said. "Her defense has always been good and she swings the bat well. We all know she'll do well there."
Lindsay said Saulman's academic plans eventually might include majoring in medicine.
Mary Washington in Fredericksburg is a member of the Division III Capital Athletic Conference.
