HAMPTON -- If Cox had defeated Fauquier in the first consolation round Friday at the Hampton Coliseum, the Falcons would've faced a rematch with Great Bridge.
But Fauquier disrupted any hopes of said rematch, beating Cox 37-23 behind two pins and two technical falls. The Falcons won their first five matches, jumping out to a 22-0 lead behind technical falls from Ryan Hunsberger (103) and David Yost (130), as well as a pin from Conner Miller (119).
Ben Dorsay (135) gave Cox its first victory of the match, pinning Patrick Hilleary in 1:53. T. Edwards (140) followed with a pin of his own over Chris Moon, and Chase Shroder took the 145-pound match in an 8-5 decision.
Jackson Rust (171) and Chris Penny (189) also recorded wins for Cox -- Penny beating John McGuinn on a 16-1 technical fall.
Fauquier will face Great Bridge Saturday morning at 10, while Cox will face Chantilly at 8 a.m.
