HAMPTON -- Salem jumped out to a quick 12-0 lead, but Chancellor won six of the next eight matches to take a 48-27 first-round victory Friday night at the Virginia Duals.
Buddy Scarborough (103) and Todd O'Brien (112) opened the bout with back-to-back pins, but Loius Pena (119) and Zach Roark (125) answered with pins of their own for Chancellor.
Salem forfeited three matches, helping the Chargers' cause.
Chancellor will face William Byrd in the Black & Blue quarterfinals at 9 p.m. Salem will wrestle its first consolation match Saturday at 8 a.m. against Indian River.
