HAMPTON -- Heavyweight Anthony Battle pinned Christian Kersey of Chancellor to give Hampton a 40-34 semifinal victory in the Black & Blue Division of the Virginia Duals at the Hampton Coliseum on Saturday.
William Jefferson (215) pinned Caleb Staley to help the Crabbers tie the match at 34 before Battle won it.
The Crabbers won four consecutive matches, starting with Tony Leonardi's pin of Peter Ormsby in the 145-pound match. Nick Sapp (152) added a 16-4 major decision, D.J. Calomany (160) won a 6-5 match over Nader Elawar, and Jamal Williams (171) won via forfeit.
Hampton advances to tonight's championship match against division top seed Western Branch, which beat Hickory 45-31. The match will start at 8:30.
