HAMPTON -- Poquoson fell 39-22 to top-seeded Canon McMillan (Penn.) in the American High School Division semifinals of the Virginia Duals Saturday at the Hampton Coliseum.
Poquoson was holding a 12-0 lead after two matches when the Big Macs won five straight matches. Ron Scham (119) beat Jonathan Holt 11-6, Nick Catalano (125) won over Colton Crabtree 9-3 and Sam Lombardo (130) won a 7-5 decision over Louie Shearer. Colin Johnston gave Canon McMillan a pin in the 135-pound match, and Chris Pihiou (140) took a 5-3 decision over Cody Silva.
Poquoson forfeited the 215 and 285-pound matches.
Canon McMillan will face Grundy, which beat Kellam 35-18, in tonight's division championship match at 8:30. Poquoson falls to the consolation bracket, where the Islanders will face the Granby-Hermitage winner at 6.
