2-6 York
great game by york... practically flawless on "D" and bats made a little noise. Could have capitalized on some more opportunities. Little Crocket pitched well and will be even better as he gets older. Jay McCarthy pitched a great game for York giving up two runs in a complete game.

Good Job York!! Flawless 'D', good pitchin, timely hitting wins games. Looks like you guys are becoming a force to be reckoned with. Not only do yall have a lot of good players but sounds like you have finally figured out how to play as a team. We better watch here in the BRD for you guys. Good luck

Sounds like a good game. Any standouts for either team defensively or offensively?

The BRD is becoming interesting.
Tabb remains solid with a 7-0 record with New Kent and Lafayette (3-3) remaining in the first half.
Poquoson (5-2) has Smithfield ( also 5-2) and Southampton.
Smithfield has Poquoson and Grafton (3-3) remaining.
York (5-2) has Grafton and Southampton.
Grafton still has Lafayette, York & Smithfield.
Lafayette still has Grafton, Southampton and Tabb.
First Half predictions:
Tabb 9-0
Poquoson 7-2
Smithfield 6-3
York 6-3
Grafton 5-4
Lafayette 4-5
maybe......

I think you are right about some:
My predictions:
TABB 9-0 most def (dominated the first half)
York 7-2 (underestimated )
Poquoson 7-2 ( should win the remaining games)
Smithfield 6-3 ( dont think they will beat both Poq and Grafton)
Grafton 4-5 (They will not beat all three of those teams, I will give them one)
Lafayette 4-5 (will lose to tabb..will beat southhampton, grafton mayber)
Very much a maybe !

Smithfield has the pitching (Evans) to win one of their games
Grafton lost to York twice last year...will not happen 3 in a row
Poquoson will use the Elder Crockett against Smithfield. Although I do not think he is the best in the BRD, I do think that he will hold Smithfield to less than 5 runs. Game could be close if Evans pitches for SMI, but then they will lose to Grafton.
York pitches Lamb against Grafton. Grafton can use Tillman against Lafayette, Bayse against SMI, and Pelchy against York.
Will be a fun week...

Yes, I agree A. Crockett should come out winning against Smithfield. Will be close like u say. I think Crockett has only one lose. Not sure about that, I am sure I will be corrected :) I do think he is ONE of the stronger pitchers in BRD. There are a lof of good ones out there though.
Grafton/York hmmmm....not so sure about a win or lose for them. York has come out a lot stronger this year. Maybe Grafton will pull off a win against York. That should be a good game. I do think Lamb will start that game.
Tillman may be used against York, I think he would be the one to shut them out. He seems to be their strongest pitcher SO FAR for Grafton. That is subject to change. Bayse is pretty good too. I think Bayse will go against Laf.
Tabb has the upper hand on the district so far. Good Job to them!

Grafton has been getting solid pitching out of Tillman, Bayse, and Pelchy. It's been good enough to keep us in just about every ball game. The defense hasn't been too bad but our problem has been our bats. We've only been able to put up a few hits each game. If our bats don't come alive, we will be stuck at the .500 mark for the rest of the season. You have to score runs to win games.
York is turning into a very competitive team. With McCarthy and Lamb throwing well, they will be in every game. You certainly can not look past them. They showed yesterday that they can put some runs on the board if you don't throw your best pitching at them. The question mark for York is, what can they do against the top tier pitchers in the league. So far they couldn't answer against Tabb and Smithfield. We'll see what they can do against Grafton.
Smithfield has also been very good. I think teams are overlooking how good the pitching from Evans and Morrison has been. Evans held Tabb to 1 run and Morrison got the win against York. I think they are going to suprise everyone and finish in the number two spot once the first half of the season is done.
Poquoson is solid all the way around. If they had a solid 1-2 pitching corp like the teams above, I think they would finish 2nd in the district. Unfortunately they do not have a number 2 pitcher that can shut down any of the top 5 teams in the district. That will cause them problems in the regular season and limit them to 1 win in post season play. They may finish in the top 3, but they can't do much with it once they get there.
Tabb is undefeated for a reason - they can hit the ball. Guy and Brown made for a solid 1-2 pitching duo that was able to keep the top 4 teams in check in back-back-back-back games. The big advantage for Tabb has been their bats. Everyone in their lineup can and has been hitting - even against the top pitchers on the other teams. Everytime I look at the box scores it looks like they have had 13-14 hits a game. As long as they keep hitting the ball well, they will stay on top.
PREDICTED ORDER AFTER 1st HALF
1. Tabb
2. Smithfield
3. York
4. Poquoson
5. Grafton

Tabb has been having a lot of success and I have been wondering why... I've heard about a lot of pregame rituals that they are involved in . I was wondering, Lynn, could you try to find out what kind of things go on before each game?:attention:

Good Job yesterday boys!! Just want u all to know how proud you have made us parents. You guys are a group of team players in addition to being very good ball players. It's great to have players who are good pitchers, good defense players, and awsome hitters but it is even greater to see you guys pick each other up at all times. Good job again to the players and coaches for breeding such a classy team with that special chemistry!! Yes I am partial to the York boys. You absolutely have the ability to go to regionals this year. One game at a time though. There are a lot of good teams out there but none that you can't handle.
GO YORK!!!!

actually Will Lamb shut tabb down through six... The only reason tabb even scored one run through the first six innings was because of an arrant throw by the catcher, one inning of hitting is all you had, yes tabb is good, not unbeatable, but get your info straight.

Wasn't that the first or second game of the season? Not so sure your going to get such a game full of errors again (I just looked it up March 19). York seems to be on a uphill roll. Poq is every bit as good as York but couldn't hold up against them. ANy given game anything can happen. THe pressure is on Tabb now, every game they play from here on out they will have to wonder what team is going to take them out if any. Poq came close to taking Tabb down they may be the ones to do it next time around. We will see.

There is no extra pressure on the Tabb players...that's ridiculous.
Tabb lost today to Powhatan in the second game of the DH, so there won't be any looking over shoulders.
If Tabb doesn't play well, they can lose....I think they will continue to play hard without worrying about who is going to beat them.

Well from my experience each game a team goes undefeated, whether they want to admit it or not the pressure increases. Mark this date down there will be no undefeated teams in the BRD this season Varsity or JV. The league this year is to balanced and for the next few years will be the same. That's simply one individual's opinion right or wrong only time will tell.
