Richie Gibson Wrestled 2 times state champion Andrew Williams on saterday keeping hims to a 11-8 decsion with richie keeping Andrew on his back for almost 20 seconds untill the referee called out and went back to the middle.

richie was a state qualifier last year but is not ranked this year.

but to keep the number 1 in state to that close of a match shopuldent he be?

whats yalls input?

We'll see after they wrestle again, but he didn't beat Andrew. Keeping him close is commendable, but that's all it was until they wrestle again.

Williams moved up in weight to wrestle Richie, and not saying Richie didnt do a good job by holding Andrew to an 11-8 decision but other than the five point reversal and near-fall, the other 3 points were due to Williams cutting Richie and the score was 2-5 Gibson after they went out after Williams got caught. Williams came back to score 9 points on Richie, easily after that. The fact is, Williams got caught trying a move and Gibson reacted like a wrestler should but don't make it seem like he out wrestled Williams for a second. He got a lucky reversal to the back and almost got the pin but for Williams to score 9 more points on Gibson after the first period and Gibson only getting 3 more points which were from 3 cuts doesnt say much. Richie is a good wrestler dont get me wrong but there was a little more luck envolved in that match than people think. Anytime a 2X State Champ gets thrown to his back it makes headlines no matter if it was a state qualifier or a lucky first year scrub.
Good job though in the match Richie and good luck with the rest of the year!

No loss should cause someone to be ranked.

You could go 0-26 and lose every match by a point, all to state or regional placewinners and should you be ranked?

No disrespect intended for the York kid here, but a close loss doesn't garner a ranking -- a win does.

are you serious, he did get caught, he went to take a shot and got thrown to his back as your photo shows. come on. i know richie and we are cool but it was alot more of luck than sheer talent agianst talent. good match but like i said, other than those five points, andrew dominated holding richie to only five points rather than the 8 i had accidently posted in my earlier reply. oh and by the way, i was sittin in a chair next to the mat so thanks for acting supirior.

i didn't see the match between williams and gibson. i'm not sure if they will wrestle again. williams has not wrestled at his weight class much all season and there is a big difference when you jump up 1 weight class and even bigger difference when you bump up 2 weight classes. williams is the top ranked wrestler in the state out of all schools aaa, aa, a at 125 not 130 not 135. if gibson put him to his back then good for him he should feel lucky.

LUCK?? and i want to know why ppl are talken about a 5 point throw cuz williams went down and gibson went on top and point blank just put him on his back with a half...... he was also there 4 like 2o-23 seconds and the reff did not call it but you are right about 1 thing it is veary hard to go up weight classes but why do it if only to get a better match...true... and that is what it was williams got what he was lookin for.

you are right about the gibson being on top part. wrong about the reversal. andrew chose down and then richie half nelsoned him over after he lifted up in the crotch. no doubt richie caught williams. and no doubt it was definitely luck. andrew man handles him after they went back to the center. three 3-point tilts in less than 30 seconds..pretty close huh? and williams cut gibson...three times. im not trying to take away the fact that gibson executed a move very well...but he is nothing compared to williams. period

andrew didnt get a good match. he broke richie..mentally. RICHIE is the one who got the good match. take it like it is...andrew is superior to gibson.

to anyone who has read threw this post.

the views and opionions i expressed in this post are my own,
as a photographer i look at pictures to tell the story.
the views and opinions are exactly that opinions
richie is not satisfied with any loss not matter to who so that is why i am putting this matter to rest andrew one richie lost good job to richie for hanging in there.
and i appologize to york wrestling for the bad feed back coming from this and other posts about this match.

There will be no rematch because Andrew will most likely wrestle the post season at 125 and Ritchie at 135. Best of luck to both.

Enough already, this is proof on any given day in the sport of wrestling you can land up on your back. All previous posts paint a picture of the York kid getting lucky lets give the kid the benefit of the doubt he came ready to wrestle I saw the entire match and what everyone keeps overlooking is the York kid continued giving a 100 percent Williams at one point actually turned his back and was walking away and the York kid kept coming. What also is being overlooked: the match that should have taken place was Williams vs Robinson (Smithfield) what happen here

So lets give the York kid credit for being a wrestler and performing well.
