Mathews improved to 12-2 by sweeping four opponents at the Mathews Duals, which included 18 team matches. The Blue Devils beat Franklin 60-24, Nandua 74-6, Washington and Lee 46-36 and Bruton 57-18. Alan Ward, Mathews' 189-pounder, won by two pins and two forfeits, improving to 29-1 this season. Shawn Roberts (112 pounds), Stewy Mattox (125), Michael Engle (145), Jimmy Arthur (152) and Shawn Shultheiss (215) also went 4-0 for the day for Mathews.
