New Kent's wrestling team completed a 24-3 regular season Tuesday night by defeating York 52-18 and Warhill 69-9.

The Trojans, who look to contend for a high finish in the sectional, Region I and state Group AA tournaments, finished with a 10-1 record against district opponents.

They likely would share the Bay Rivers title if Tabb were to have handed Poquoson the Islanders' first district loss Wednesday. Otherwise, Poquoson would win the district outright.

Congrats Trojans on a great season. Same to the Islanders on the district championship. Both teams showed they were the elite in the BRD. Tabb beat Poquoson.....in wrestling.... got some swamp land for sale if your interested.

As a Poquoson fan I can tell you don't count out Tabb to do well. The Poquoson v. Tabb match was closer than the Poquoson v. New Kent match, and although Poquoson wrestled many of their wrestlers up a weight; Tabb looked well and they will be a force at sectionals and regionals. This has been a great season for the Islanders and I expect it to continue, but I wouldn't count out New Kent or Tabb as forces in the Region 1 tournament. Good luck to all BRD teams in the post season.

I noticed last night (@ Smithfield) that EVERY match over there on the POQ/TABB mat was EXTREMELY spirited. That's a huge rivalry and I'm glad that I got to watch some of those matches. Made for some good wrestling. POQ looked extremely good. Gonna be tough to find a spot ahead of them.
