OUTLOOK: Bay Rivers District girls teams have won all eight previous state championships, and BRD boys teams have won seven. The Lafayette girls go for their fifth straight state championship after breezing through the district meet, winning by 106 points. In the state meet, Lafayette is top-seeded in the 200-yard medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay. And the Rams’ Paige Boyer is top-seeded in the 100 breaststroke. Grafton’s Colleen Ward has the top time in the 50 freestyle and Meaghan Holloway is the leader in the 100 butterfly. On the boys side, Jamestown has won the last two Group AA state championships, but finished second behind Lafayette in this year’s district meet. Lafayette’s Matt Baumler is top-seeded in the 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle, while the Rams have the top times in the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay. Jamestown’s Corydon Butler is No. 1 in the 200 and 500 freestyles, while the Eagles’ Scott Cutler tops the 50 freeestyle entrants.
DIRECTIONS: From Interstate 95, take exit 152, which is Route 234 north, 19 miles. Stay on 234 as it becomes Prince William Parkway. A half-mile past the Route 28-Manassas interchange, turn right on University Boulevard, then turn left at Freedom Center Boulevard to enter the campus.
