From the IUP website:
Indiana University Pennsylvania softball coach Sue Snyder has added two more recruits for next school year, bringing to five the total number of newcomers for the 2008 season.
Joining the IUP program in the fall will be Kristen Tunno from Grafton High School in Seaford, Va., and Jamie Fisher from Lower Moreland High School in Huntingdon Valley. Tunno will also be a member of the Crimson Hawk volleyball team.
In November, Snyder signed Brittany Allman and Dee Eppinger from North Penn High School and Michelle Bivona from Coatesville High School.
“The addition of our two spring signees has rounded out a strong recruiting class for 2007,” Snyder said. “We have added depth and speed in this year’s class, filling many holes left by our graduating seniors.”
Tunno, a middle infielder and outfielder, was the Bay Rivers District and Region 1 Player of the Year as well as a first team all-state selection as a junior in 2006 when she batted .521. She also had an average over .500 as a sophomore in 2005 when she was named first team all-district.
Her team won the Bay Rivers District and Region 1 titles and made the Virginia State Final Four last spring. The previous two years, her Grafton club was district champs, region runners-up and advanced to the quarterfinals of the state tournament.
Tunno was first team all-district, all-region and all-state in volleyball during her senior season in that sport and helped her team win the district and region titles and make the Final Four. She plans on majoring in elementary education at IUP.
“Offensively, Kristen has good speed and a very strong bat, both elements which will make her a great weapon in the lineup,” Snyder said. “She is an all-around athlete who excelled in both softball and volleyball during her career. We look forward to her continuing in that role as a Crimson Hawk.”
