This is the type of win KHS needed. Next week they have WoHS where they will be tested again.

Yea I`m sure KHS felt good about this win. But last years Menchville team would of beat them. Menchville has still some caliber players and they will hold their own as the season goes on.I think KHS finishes 4th. And at this point the top 3 teams could be in any order WoHS, GHS or WaHS.After hearing about the PHS and WaHS game yesterday. Congrats PHS I`m sure know one expected you to play like you did against the WaHS pitcher and the rest of the team. You got to have confidence and you all had it on Wednesday.

That is why your eyes are brown. There is no way menchvilles team from last year would beat KHS this year. You have got to be kidding. They really didn't lose anyone from last year that would put them over the top this year.

I have to agree with that. Kate Perry was the only player Menchville lost from last year that would hurt them this year. Menchville's strongest teams were back in 2005 and 2006. It looks like they have few new players this year including a couple new pitchers that looked pretty good. This is the first game I have gotten to see from either of these teams this year and I thought Kecoughtan played a good game but Menchville made alot of errors. Their were too many passed balls at the beginning of the game that put them down early in the game. If I am not mistaken they also only had 2 solid hits the entire game. I have watched Menchville for many years now and they always have a good team so I would expect some good things from them as the season goes on. This should be a good year for Kecoughtan as well. They could be one of the top teams this year. Good luck to both teams!

Not only did Menchville lose Kate Perry from last year, they also lost Andrea Gray who was a beast at second base and a solid hitter/base runner. They lost Kelsie Woods, who was a smart pitcher. Menchville was a team the last 2 yrs that had great defense. Smart pitcher that let her defense do the work. She didnt have to over power anyone. She was a solid pitcher. They also lost Jessica Nightingale who was a solid outfielder/catcher and hitter. They lost a big part of their team. There is no need dogging Menchville. If they couldnt have beat them last year with that team than it would have been a better game then 9-0. Menchvilles team this year is very young and a new coach. They will get better, dont count them out against anyone!

Never heard of the outfielder you refer to and Woods, while I'm sure she must be a nice person really never was one of the top pitchers. Sorry but KHS always has been better than Menchville. The only years they were close was when Bookbinder was playing for them and KHS usually still beat them.

Menchville has had a better all around team the last couple years, not only when bookbinder was there. and For Woods this has nothing to do with her being a nice person or not. I am saying from what I have seen from her. She is a smart pitcher... You dont need 65 mph pitching to be a dominating pitcher. You have to be smart. Menchville has always had really good defense. Look at the teams now, they have over powering pitching, but what do they have behind them? If you hit the pitchers you are most likly going to get on base. Woods was confident in her defense, she didnt need over powering pitching. I am not sure how many times you have seen Kecoughtan or Menchville play but I played for Menchville for 4 years on Varsity, and I helped Coach for 2. Kecoughtan has had a really good team, and Katie is there center. She is a good pitcher. But overall the last 2 years Menchville has been a better all around team. Anyways, there is no need talkin about the past games, this year is knew. and menchville is in its rebuilding stages. and as for the outfielder she played at Warwick for a year or 2 before switching to Menchville.

Sassafrass, you said, "The only years they [Menchville] were close was when Bookbinder was playing for them and KHS usually still beat them."

Just to set the record straight, in 2005, Menchville swept KHS during the regular season, by scores of 7-1 and 16-0. In 2006 the teams split, Kecoughtan winning the first one 3-2, with Menchville winning the second, 7-0. They didn't meet in the postseason either of those two years. Their play in the postseason both years might mark them as two of Menchville's best teams ever. Bookbinder played for them both of those years, but the teams were solid from top to bottom, led of course by Kelsie's consistency on the mound.

My daughter graduated a couple years ago, but I still try to get to as many games as I can. Menchville has always had a strong team and if I can remember correctly has had a stronger team through the years than Kecoughtan. Menchville's defense has held the team together for the past several years. Woods was a good pitcher but wasn't in the same catagory as the other pitchers she was up against. Menchville didn't play well against Kecoughtan and gave up alot of unearned runs, but they will still be a strong this year. The person who posted saying Kecoughtan has always been better than Menchville really needs to check the stats on that one. Menchville has been one of the top teams in the Peninsula for the past few years, even going to Regionals a couple of those years. Kecoughtan has a good team this year, but I don't see them getting a win from Warwick or Gloucester this year. Alexander is a good pitcher, but no where close to the level of Atkins, Byrd or Coates.
