Lafayette is a young team with 3 freshmen playing infield. The freshmen have been playing travel ball since 8 years old (W'burg Starz & Y'town Revolution) so they are getting over the jitters of playing varsity and settling into a solid game both defensively and offensively. Lafayette should only improve as the season progresses.

Who are the girls from Travel ball playing for Lafayette? I might know them. Many times we know one another in the travel ball circle but not to the point we know who plays for whom in school ball.

Patti Vinson (3B LHS, 16U Starz), Linda Silva (C LHS, 14U Starz), and Sammie Cagle (1B LHS, 14U YR) all began playing with the Williamsburg Starz 10U program under Jeff Vinson. Sammie moved to the Yorktown Revolution as a 12U. Patti primarily pitches for the Starz and Linda catches. Sammie pitches and catches for the YR14U. Vinson and Cagle are often listed in the Daily Press scoreboard for LHS.

Jenny Carroll pitches for the 18U Starz too. Gloucester center fielder Leta Bressin (sophomore) is also an outfielder on the 18U Starz.

So you saying the W Starz may actually offer some competition to the known travel teams such as HR Vipers, Revolution, Legends, Lady Eagles and Orion Hunter? Or do they still play in only local Richmond tournaments or weaker tournaments with weaker competition where they can expect to win a game or two against B Class travel teams?

I can't speak for the 2008 18U W'burg Starz but I do know the 2007 16U Starz was beaten a couple times by the 14U Revolution playing up in a couple local Class B tournaments.

That will be great, Williamsburg needs that when it comes to Travel Ball

Not to stick up for the Starz team or anything, the coaching is different from 16U and 18U and experience and skill level. I would not leave it up to a Completley other team make make an opinion on them, but i will say the Surge beat them in the college showcase tournament. Thats the BRD top two travel Ball teams. Laura B.(New kent) Catches, Rebecca Mills(New Kent) pitches, and many other top players. Many of the talented players play on that team i would like to see that game this summer. The Starz looked like they were struggling to hit of Rebecca Mills, but many fans were talking about how it was a Bad game for the starz and they played really off. Lets see if they prove themselves this summer.

Last season, Stephanie Coates played for Revolution and wasn't aware she moved to the Wmsb Starz. The Surge is loaded in addition to Rebecca Mills and Laura B they have Stephanie Poates(Grafton) catcher, Ashley Prosper(York)1B or pitch, Jen Falin Bruton SS and many others.
