Warick games match up Va.Lady Eagles pitchers Sarah Atkins of WHS, Kendall Bunch of Cox, and Brittany Lane of Greenbrier Christian.

Are you folks suggesting that Sarah Atkins is pitching for Warwick this week instead of Tra Byrd?

The original point was just that Warick's Sarah Atkins will now be facing Kendall and Brittany, two girls that she is used to pitching with while on the Va Lady Eagles.

Ah, travel ball vs high school ball – teammates in the summer but competitors during school ball. Should be good games to see if the weather will hold out and the fields have time to dry.

I highly doubt you will see Atkins on the mound anytime soon. She is doing a fantastic job for the raiders behind the plate this season. The raiders do have a player on jv that may be able to come up and help out with pitching if need be.

Sarah Atkins does look good behind the plate, but I think she will definitely be the back up pitcher for WHS. I haven't seen anyone on JV that would be able to help Varsity. Dude WHS JV lost to Kecoughtan and Gloucester by the slaughter rule. So was that pitcher not with the JV team?

Travel Ball vs High School Ball

If you took the travel players to play for their respective summer teams, the High School teams couldn't stand a snow ball chance of winning. No disrepect but they couldn't beat a extremely good 14U team. Travel ball pending on competition and tournament selection is far more competitive than High School teams. High School teams, and that is a result of the training and travel teams are not bound by districts as High School teams. High School teams have begun to see the benefit from the travel programs in the area and that is great for the sport and the teams.

Now take the aspect of district away and allow High School to recruit for the talent NOW you would have a game :o

Game today postponed until Thursday at 4:30. Greenbrier had to cancel game with Warwick originally scheduled for tomorrow. Warwick and Cox will try again weather permitting at Riverside Elementary WHS home field).

Do you know if the Greenbrier - Warwick game is being rescheduled? From everything I've read here, Warwick is a good team and I was hoping to see them play some Southside teams.

The pitcher from Greenbriar is a very good pitcher and they did pull her half way through the game, but less not forget WHS had just started to hit her before she was pulled.

I was at the scrimmage and the Greenbreir coach did not throw his number 2 pitcher he threw a Sophmore. His Number 2 is a Senior according to a Greenbrier parent but they did not know much about her . They did not look like a one girl show to me their catcher is very good as is their the shortstop and outfield look very solid. Second base made a couple of errors. Does anyone know when they will play.

Who knows what the outcome of a regular game would be. Why they use and who they used in a scrimmage is up to coach and and what they want to accomplish some coaches do different things in scrimmages. Scrimmages are just that and should be used to work all your players especially since they do not count I would like to have seen Sara pitch a little never know when you are going to need her. Both are good teams and a regular game would be fun to watch.

Just heard that Warwick is playing Cox tonight. Greenbrier offered to play tomorrow or Saturday but some of Warwick girls have previous commttments so the game has been postponed. They will try and reschedule at the end of the season.

The final score does not reflect how this game was played.. Warwicks pitcher Tra Byrd pitched awesome I`m thinking she had about 12 k`s maybe a few more than that . Cox`s pitcher did a great job on the mound as well.Where is the offense guys? All things considered I think it was ok. After all Cox did just defeat the beach number #1 Salem 4 to 2. Warwick gave Cox their 2 runs.

Did anyone actually see the game? How many hits did Warwick actually get? Someone said that Cox out hit Warwick and Warwick's only score came on a dropped tag by the Cox's catcher. So who gave who their runs?

It surprised me that Cox didn't win by a larger margin. Warwick had too many errors. In the Gloucester game they were nearly perfect, but I haven't seen that team since. Their defense is too shakey and offense is minimal. I watched this game and thought Warwick was the better team. The paper says Byrd had 15 strike outs so Cox wasn't that great. Bottom line is Warwick has got to give the run support needed to win games. Byrd, King, Ward and Baldwin all had errors of some kind. Atkins had two third drop strikes and one scored. There will always be errors, but you can't expect to have so many and win against good teams. Warwick need to go back to the drawing board. They better to learn to play team softball... seem to have serious bonding issues..too much individual focus. They had better work on defense and offense is a must. You have to hit the ball. They better make a U-turn cause they are headed down a dead end. :(

I did see the game. Byrd pitched a great game! 15 Strikeouts, but 4 errors will cost you the game. It was a good game, but I think like League of their Own stated, they did not play as a team, I have never seen this Warwick team not be able to hit. 2 or 3 hits the whole game! Just very surprising. GOOD LUCK!

I have either coached or been around several of the Warwick girls and they are good ball players. But greatness will only be measured by how well you played your last season, that is what will be remembered! Girls DON'T get down, get focused and play as a team to turn it around. You have an opportunity this year to have a special team but if you don't come together more as a team, playing as a team, the season may not be found to be special. Take each game as a mountain to climb reaching each plateau one game at a time achieving the ultimate goal of climbing to the top. Good luck with future games, don't be complacent, and play each game as it is your last. ALEX, JAZ, Sarah, TRA, PLAY HARD and LEAVE IT ON THE FIELD -- Good luck with the rest of the season. :clap2:
