How about we make these suggestions based on actual no kidding performance, analysis of actual output STATISTICS This analysis will give you the no kidding best statistically, then have a unbiased review based on how many At Bats were for sacrifice purposes and how many were for strategic purposes.
Every kid has different days some good some bad this can be minimzed by the meer fact of trend performance.

Oh by the way I guess we may not be able to do this if I recall a previous post in this softball forum was there were complaints of the scorekeepers skewing the score books.

I agree or actually score games as strict as Colleges or travel ball score them. Statistics are a great thing but often are subject to human error or perception. I do agree with ya

In the PD I think King is the biggest threat, and you can see that by how many times she has been walked.
Other Hitters: Powell,Byrd,Atkins,Adrino,Coates,Kiser
In the BRD I think Wright is the biggest threat.
Other Hitters: Gleason,Olsen,Dudney,Mills

Do you know if the game stats are called in?
How many are intentional walks? Are you measuring threat stautus due to the walks being intentional or maybe pitchers are just not able to get the ball over the plate

League of their Own and WOHS softball has nailed it...all the games so far this year you guys are dead on with hitters in PD and BRD. Haven't heard the Wright name in a couple of years.

I would have to agree on this for the PD, with the exception of your choice of Staples. I would have to go with Holt for best hitter for MHS this year.

Don`t count Holt out I think I mentioned her name as one of the top hitters in the PD. But Staples puts a lot of pressure on the defense with her speed. And she to can hit for power.Putting her on the left side was great move.
Unfortunately her speed isn't getting her on this year...i would like to see her actually get to hit the ball instead of slap. She has always been a good hitter. I have seen 3 Menchville games so far and she has only gotten on base one time. Right now Menchville has a whole line up of good solid hitters, so it hasn't really hurt the team that she isn't getting on. They also have a new third base this year that's hitting the ball really well. I don't know her name, but I heard she was only a Freshman. I don't know how many seniors they will lose next year, but they should have a solid team for the next few years.

Her name is Jordan Hanna, and she is a freshman. They will be losing Tabby Whatley, Ellie Staples, Jessica Tomes, and Amanda Lane.

I agree with most of the names I'm hearing in the PD, but I think a few are being left out. Ashley Nichols of KHS and Jasmine Baldwin of WHS are on fire so far this season, heads up for them!

Alyson Laughrun from Menchville needs to be on this list, she's a steady hitter. Holt for power, Staples is being used in a different way this year, give her time to adjust to her new role. She may not be hitting, but from the games I have seen she is on base a lot. I believe Clavin and Walker of Poq. are great hitters too.

this post is about the best hitters in the BRD and PD..not who gets on base the most. Menchville has some good hitters this year, but the power hitter is Holt. They have a couple girls like Laughrun, Tomes & Lane, who almost always get on. If your going to recognize girls who get on base alot definitely these girls need to be on that list.

What do the statistics say? Opinion appears to be the authority here

I think this post was to just get opinions of who people thought were the best hitters. I would be interested in actually seeing the stats on some the teams so far.

I think the true measure would be statistics and quite honestly a more important stat would be the on base percentage and slugging percentage. At this stage I don't know if we could get the coaches to provide the top hitters' (OB%, AVG, or SLG%) but maybe at the end of the year it would be nice to see?

I would have to agree with this. I think the on base percentage is more important. As one of the posts said, Menchville does have a couple girls who seem to always get on rather it be a base hit or a bunt and never get recognized because they aren't power hitters. These girls are a bigger asset to the team than the power hitters sometimes because you can always depend on them to get on. Warwick definitely has more power hitters than most of the other teams, but they have to depend on those 3 or 4 girls getting hits every game. When those girls aren't on, the whole team suffers. Menchville has a solid line up all the way down the line. Kecoughtan's catcher is another one that is a good base hitter, not sure of her name though. I had a chance to see Woodside last week also and was very impressed. This is one of the most competitive years I have seen in the PD. Should be a great season. Good luck to all teams!
