Warwick sat 6 or 7 starters and pitched some kid I've never seen before, word was he was a JV pitcher

Kenny H. (1b), Zach B (c), Clint, Cole C. (ss&3rd), Nick L. (of), Jason E. (p), all did not start some came in at the end of the game to hit some came in for a inning to hit and play the field out of position ( Kenny went to 2b, Jason ss).

it would make sense for warwick to lose this one

Ha what a joke. They did it because they think they can beat hampton if they both get to the second round (warwick 5 seed plays 4 seed and winner plays the winner of the 1 seed hampton and the 8 seed heritage) Basically they didnt want to risk losing because they might have had to play bethel or menchville which they know they can't beat. Nothing to do with disliking menchville or anything they just want to make it as sure thing as possible in the tournament. I mean good stradegy i guess, but what happened to wanting to win every game? I don't know i know as a player i want to win EVERY game, not loseee....

Why? Assuming they get by Gloucester and them face the number one seed which is Hampton. Well first they have to win Saturday and second don't sleep on Heritage anything can happen. I just don't think losing any time is good and they pretty much didn't give themselves a chance to win

this just shows how big of a joke the program at Warwick is. That they would actually throw a game in district play. That is pathetic. go ahead and delete this comment too. but someone needs to see this...

Why should Warwick help out Menchville by winning? Warwick had the right to do whatever they wanted. I don't see anything wrong with coaches playing the bench in a meaningless game. It gives the guys on the bench a chance to feel more meaningful to their team.

Totally agree. This game meant NOTHING to Warwick. Perfect chance to pull a few JV players up and get a taste of what the future holds for them. A very good experience. This had nothing to do w/ a tougher tournament schedule because NOBODY has it easy in the tournament.

Congrats to Hampton though. They earned it

Now lets think here, If Wawick wins- 3 way tie for 1st. That would mean 2 more games for the # 1 seed before Sat Tny and at least 2 more pitchers have thrown. Warwick # 5 seed if they win Sat they would play (most likely) the # 1 seed on Mon. MMMMMMMMMMMMM with now 2 games in 2 days (Fri, Sat) or 3 games in 3 days for the # 1 seed (Thur,Fri,Sat) or 4 games ,4 days (Wed, Thur, Fri, Sat) depends of the Draw, how good is the pitching. Do they have enough arms. So to me if I was Coach at Warwick I would use that logic to win and give My Team a better chance of winning the Tny. All you fans out there THINK about that if YOU WERE the Coach.

So what is the line up for this Saturday's PD festivities?

Who plays who and when?

One can only hope Menchville gets to tangle with Warwick ...just for fun

Get ready, the Purple dudes are coming....time for the deep pitching staffs to get it done

big IF in that post. Not worth the risk in my opinion. Just my opinion. I think the coach did the right thing by resting his big guns for the tourney.

Warwick was the only team left that beat Hampton in the first half of the season, seems to me the coach would have wanted to prove it wasn't a fluke after Hampton came back to beat the other two in the second half.

Plus, a Warwick win yesterday would have forced a three-way playoff for the #1 seed, setting the stage for a lower seeded team to get a first round upset and possibly win the tournament for a berth in the regionals.

Looks like they traded their Raider Pride to game the tournament. Maybe it will work for them...

I see where Gloucester Lost to Woodside yesteday. DID THE DUKE'S COACH REST HIS PLAYERS (starters) FOR THE TNY????? That game ment nothing to them as well. I bet he did not. GHS fans, players, parents let us know if your Coach did what Warwick's did. or did he play his starters and try to win the game.

I heard both Woodside and Gloucester started their starters, neither team pitched their ace.

I can see not pitching your Ace and resting him for the PD Tny. Last game of the Reg season ,ALL Sr's should play the whole game. that is my opinion and I am sticking to it.

I understand were the coaches were coming from but still it would have been nice for warwick to try n force the three way tie and kill some of the strong arms b4 the tournament

So does anyone have the PD tourney schedule with matchups...

All the discussion of why they started this kid and didn't pitch aces etc is interesting but the team matchups and how that might play out would go a long way in pointing out the smarts of not pitching this dude or that dude ,etc

Any body got the schedule?

baseballisthebest

1 vs. 8

wow really come on is it that serious.

I think that the coach knew they were going to lose and wanted to give some players that normally dont play a chance to show what they got.
Isnt that what coaches normally do if they are losing...i mean why not?

He wants to see what they got for next year i guess. Its only fair to give them a chance.

1. Hampton is in first. They deserve it. Get over it.
2. Warwick did what they wanted to do yesterday. Period.

For the people that are ****** their teams didn't get another shot to be in first, well that is life. Their teams should have beaten Hampton when they had their chance and not rely on some crazy 3-way tie scenario.

I also don't want to hear the tiring B.S. about Umpires, or Coaching decisions that you feel affected the games. It is baseball. And anything can happen.

Go support your teams this weekend as they try to get the other regional berth.

I think some of the folks should ease up on Warwick. The coach made a decision that he thought was best for the team. Menchville and Bethel had ample opportunities to catch Hampton and they could not get the job done. Let's give Barker a chance and look at this after the tournament and then make a judgement on his decision.

Agreed, We might be talking about a Coach who has a plan.
