Heard that there was a fight after the game between Cox and Great Bridge. Is it true that both teams were kicked out of the tournament? One of coaches had blood gushing out of his head. Cops came! Insane!!!!

I have only the unofficial version:

Cox is disqualified from further tournament play.

Tabb plays PA.

Grafton plays the winner of Tabb/PA for the title.

True for the most part.... both Cox and GB were Dqed.

In their infinite wisdom the omnipotent rulers of lacrosse decided that the format that they had created would not work and reseeded after the Dqs.

Why? Not sure, but I am very happy that Grafton is in the finals. Coach Basalone and his fellows are a class act.

I hope Tabb can join them in the finals and make it an all York County championship. Would that not be a tweak of the AAA school's noses if the only 2 AA schools playing were in the final?

Tabb defeated Grafton 6-5 in a tough game.

It looked like about 150 people showed up to watch, a great testament to how far the sport has come on the peninsula.

Now where is York and Poquoson???

Tabb won the HRLax Championship Game last night with a thrilling 6-5 win over regular season champion Grafton. Grafton ended its season with only 2 losses and played a great game in the finals.

Tabb got on the board on a wicked shot from the left wing by Trevor King. Steve Hersey blasted one past the Grafton goalie from the top of the box late in the first period to make it 2-1. The home team’s fast break offense then took over as Grafton exploded to take a 5-2 lead. Ryan Hehir got a seemingly meaningless goal for the Tigers near the end of the first half to close to 5-3. Grafton did tremendous job running Tabb all over the field in the first half but had few of their shots reach goalie Chris Melson. Most of Grafton shots on Melson were blocked by Tabb’s D-middies Billy Lucenta and Adam O’Mara or defensemen Joey Hudson, Kyle Stitt and Ben Murphy.

The second half got under way with Tabb scoring on extra man opportunity by King. James Mitcham gave attack a much needed break by returning from a knee injury early to play meaningful minutes. Tabb’s defense continued to dominate their end of the field allowing few shots on Melson. Josh Alexander in his first year of lacrosse came up big as a sub for a tired Tabb D. Late in the 3rd Alex Brown got the tying goal on a shot from the top of the box when O’Mara came up with a lose ball near mid field and fed the attack man who beat Grafton’s goalie high.

Entering the final period tied at 5 both teams tried to control the mid field. O’Hare and Jones showed speed and skill clearing the ball on feeds from deep in their own end. Tabb however did not let them get many quality shots on goal. For Tabb, Alex Serio, Matt Cowan and Erich Buss did much the same thing. In the middle of the 4th period, team leader Steve Hersey took matters into his own hands beating his defender and firing a hard shot to put Tabb up 6-5.

Grafton showed no quit and pressured Melson and the Tabb D. When Buss cleared the ball as time expired, the crowd of about 500 went wild.
