Planning on going to my first WNBA game. Kind of hard to get people to go with me because most of my friends don’ t like girls hoops, but oh well its their loss. Has anyone here been to a wnba game, and what did you think of the experience? I’m hoping its just as rowdy and high energy as an NBA game..

Unfortunately, there's no WNBA team in VA! Probably the closest would be the new Atlanta Dream, or you'd have to go up north to NY to see the Liberty.

Remember, the Mystics are in Washington at the Verizon Center. That's definitely the closest, though sometimes D.C. is a pain in the butt to navigate. I've never been to a WNBA game, but I see the Mystics usually draw well, though they've never been in the title race. ...
Speaking of the Atlanta Dream, JMU rookie Tamera Young made the 13-player active roster of this expansion team, joining ex-Tar Heels Ivory Latta and Camille Little, among others. ODU has had lots of WNBA players, but its conference rivals haven't had many, other than George Mason's Jen Derevjanik.
Tamera is definitely the first WNBA player in JMU history, though the Dukes have had pretty good tradition in women's hoops. When I went there (1984-88), they occasionally were in the top 25 and always won the CAA -- but, of course, that was when ODU was in the Sun Belt.
It wouldn't shock me if Dawn Evans becomes the second JMU WNBA player in three years. She can really play -- except when they played at ODU and the Lady Monarchs scored something like 26 straight points after halftime. (LOL) Just ask Indiana, where she tore up Assembly Hall like Isiah and Alford used to.

Sonny, thank you! Brain fart during my post. I haven't really followed the Mystic as I should have. Both my parents are from NYC so I've grown up partial to NY sports.. I'm going to look in to seeing the Mystics this season (although I heard they recently lost to the Liberty)

If you go to DC, park outside the city somewhere and take the Metro. I'm not sure which line, but I know you can get off right near the Verizon Center.

Glad you enjoyed it. Seems like they're having fun on TV.
