Anybody have any predictions for the state tournament? The King is making his necessary contacts and will make his predictions for the state tournament before tomorrow.

King, I know that you picked both Bethel and Hampton to be 1 and done in the regionals. As a Peninsula fan and a superstitious person, please pick Bethel to be one and done again. Hopefully, I will thank you on Sat evening. :)

The King is not afraid to admit when a mistake is made. Unlike a lot of other folks in the PD. I did get all the rest of my predictions correct. I am on the Bethel bandwagon and am pulling for them 100%. The King is currently looking at the state numbers and will be making predictions later this evening.

i dont know bethel got a shot if they play like they played against western branch and ocean lakes. i hear the team they play tomorrow look like a college team and lake braddock done won like 19 straight. Its gonna be tough but bethel can pull through with good defense and good pitching. signing off

Chantilly High is making their first state appearance in baseball since the school was built 33 years ago. So they are not traditionally a powerhouse baseball team. However, any team that makes it to state has a legitimate chance of winning. They are all good. If Bethel plays good defense like usual and Kiz Scott gets a big hit to pump up the team, they will not stop. That's the way they've been all year. They take advantage of momentum changers. Good luck Bethel!

Great game. Shively pitched an outstanding game. His curve ball was on and his fastball was consistently hitting the outside corner. The teams' defense helped out considerably. The offense had timely hits. Jamie and Jesse were both impressive.

Zack. You were thrown out at first base again. Keep your head in the game young man. You're an awesome player.

Good luck up north guys, GIT ER' DONE!!

Everybody makes mistakes. It's normal. I only brought it up because he got picked off last game too. If you lose concentration just for one moment it gives the other team an opportunity to exploit it. The team needs his speed on the bases. Every run counts.

What a great year Bethel sports have had! Runners-Up for the State Titles in Basketball and Boy's Track, a 9-1 season for the Football team including a win over Hampton, and now the Baseball team at least making it to the State Semi's. Ray Smith has done a great job as AD over there and has certainly made the most out of his opportunities to hire new coaches with Nelson and Wheeler. I think the Bruins are just as deserving of an article in the paper as Poqouson sport's teams for their tremendous success this year.

I have looked at the matchup between James River and Bethel and I don't like what I see. James River is the defending state champs and they have several players with Division 1 talent. I have my doubts about this one but I said I will not go against Bethel. My prediction is Bethel will win 6-4. If I had not previously made the statement about Bethel then my pick would have been James River.

James River takes this one down. 6-2 final. A few costly errors in the field by Bethel will cost them a chance for the State crown. Good luck!:)

UP-TO-THE-MINUTE report - Phone call @ 4:50 PM reports that it's all over for Belthel and that Indian River took it in a nail-biter score = 2 / 1 at the bottom of the 8th on a HOT - HOT - afternoon. The blow-by-blow report should follow soon. Our great Bruins will be home soon after a good battle for the state championship finishing in the semi-finals at Westfield HS in Chantilly, VA.:(

I was hoping for the best but I the 2-1 final did not surprise the King. My research indicated Bethel would have a tough time against that guy from James River. I knew Bethel had not seen anyone like that. The King was trying to stay optimistic and hoping the PD could bring home the rings. Bethel had a great season. Congrats from the King! I am really looking forward to next season.
