If this is true it's very unfortunate for the Bay Rivers District as Coach Riddick has fielded very competitive teams during her tenure. She has helped make the BRD become one of the (if not THE) best districts in the state. It would certainly be Smithfield's loss.

The truth of the all of this rumor is Coach Riddick could have alot better team if she had some real help. She has talent but she doesnt have help. Riddick should stay but she really should look hard for help....

RIDDICK rules. she knows more about ball than any other coach in the district. (Bowden a close second.) Her team might not have done very well this year but she is awesome - She does have the know how and with a team that gives 100% she would of had a winning season. (Did anyone know they retired her number after college - That is how great this women is).

She was also an All American Catcher....if anyone knows the game it's Riddick. There is no questioning her level of commitment....but you gotta wonder about the level of commitment from some others that will remain nameless. That's all I'm gonna say about that - period. Give 'em he-ll Cathy, we believe in you!

She has the college career to prove that she has the knowledge of the game. From a coaching perspective she definitely needs help in Smithfield. One can not do it alone.

Smithfield lacks the big guns, the days of Wilson and J. Nowack..have long been gone and Smithfield may never see that again.

I'm not so sure about that....BIG GUNS? JV team is loaded big time this year. SEVERAL really good 8th graders on this years squad, some pretty stout freshman and Ashley Jesse has been outstanding this year and will only get better, she's a Sophomore. We should see a resurgence over on Turner Ln (oops Dr) in Smithfield - soon.
We'll see - gotta play 'em first! LOL!
JV is 16-1 this year......hmmmmmm

More power to the JV team...16-1 is not too shabby. Hopefully some of those players will come on up to Varsity and make a quick impact.

With such good players, hopefully Riddick will make something of it.

It's time for Smithfield to regain a "powerhouse" status. It has been too long since that has happened on Turner Dr.
