Mathews' boys and Middlesex's girls each staged dominant performances Wednesday in taking the Tidewater District meet championships on the Eastern State Hospital course in Williamsburg. The Blue Devils and Chargers swept the top five positions in their respective races.
Zach Garcia won the boys race in 17 minutes, 6 seconds on the 3.1-mile course, followed by Jamie Vanemmerick in 17:32.
Melisa Hall took the girls title in 20:17, followed by Rebecca Walker in 21:43.
The top teams and individuals next will compete in the Region A meet.
