Rhevyn Clegg scored 22 points to guide York to a 47-44 home victory over Smithfield, pulling the Falcons (6-14, 5-13) within a half-game of the Packers (7-12, 5-12) for the last Bay Rivers District tournament berth.
York led 27-14 at halftime, but Smithfield dominated the third quarter to go ahead 34-33. The Falcons prevailed as Demetrice Stancil, who had 14 rebounds, sank two late free throws to finish with 12 points. Rachel Lamb had 10 points and eight steals for York.
Alex Boothe-Delk led the Packers with 13 points.
York standout Shannon Lewis missed the game for undisclosed reasons.
