Go back 29 years to see who your picks of the "Top 10" wrestlers are...(No Penninsula AAA) discuss in next thread....here's mine

1.) Victor Jackson: Raw Talent, crazy strength and one of meanest wrestlers to come out of the Bay Rivers

2.) Mike Akers: 4xstate champ.and the accomplishments go on and on...NCAA qualifer freshman year

3.)Casey Graham: A real 4xchamp but we will go with 3xchamp....NCAA qualifer also-not to mention a Daily Press 100 best athlete's

4.) Andrew Williams: 3xstate champ...hard worker and great kid. UVA bound

5.) Denny Herndon: a 2xstate champ I believe..maybe more..as a NCAA ranked wrestler for GMU

6.)Terry Chaney:multiple state champ

7.)Scott Brown: multiple state champ..NCAA qualifer multiple times

8.)Jacob Inge:state champ-top 3 at Beast of the East-etc..etc..

9.)Brad Williams: Multiple state champ

10)John Morris: multiple state champ-NCAA All-American

Honorable Mention: Hardy-York, Panza-Laf., B.Fitzpatrick-Poq, Holmes-(both)-Tabb, Ferguson-Poq.

No basing or negative posts please.....just give your positive thoughts and Top 10 list...these are mine from not just state titles but from college creditials, high school national tournaments and national rankings

would make akers no. 1.....VIctor only hit a sweep and overpowered you...akers could have one multiple AAA titles....as long as matt viola wasnt his weight....and victor couldnt beat richard slocumb or nate parker in AAA (just across the water)...people in that district were just scared of victor....

Victor also bounced from school to school family to family and to say all he did was a sweep and overpowered you is a little unbelievable even if you did wrestle him...my view was based on pure and raw natural ability that include speed, natural strength and aggressiveness that wasn't shown to hurt opponents but break them mentally...Akers was brought up in a wrestling community and was technically gifted by hard work and dedication. My number one pick should have been Casey Graham even with the runner-up statistic because in reality this was not a "true" 2nd place finish but a lack of mental judgement. 15-4 I believe was the score before the change of tides with 1-2 seconds left...Akers is by far the most accomplished but to me the top pick of total best bay rivers wrestler is Victor Jackson....the best wrestler out of the beach and this is area is none other than Byron Tucker of Western Branch....undefeated in senior year in high school...3rd in high school nationals losing to Cory Wallman in 3 over times...4 year at Oklahoma U..ranked #1 junior year and undefeated in senior year which he defeated Josh Koscheck in the NCAA Division I finals...3rd in line in international/national freestyle comp. placed in the worlds and believe a Pan-am champion...this is best wrestler since 1990....and top 5 of all time in area

Wasn't saying you weren't aware of Victor's life....it is much easier to be taken out of your game in a match and everyone has been there..even if they won the match but looking from a athlete's view on several level's Victor was best suited for higher levels and had more natural gifts then any of the wrestler's listed...a few of them will fully agree. Aker's was a super freak of technique and wrestling specific skill...Victor was a natural super freak with abilities still untapped...Aker's was one of the nicest guys to have been around and would never take anything from him...I am sure he would be pleased to have been compared to Victor on a wrestling level. I would move on to your list of top best my pick was based on several things and not just wins vs. loses....I do agree with facts but not what I am looking for in the comparision

Victor Jackson:

Mike Akers:

Victor is a business owner and Mike is living at the beach...Mike was a NCAA qualifer his freshman year and Victor wrestled a year or so at LOck Haven and then transfered to ODU....not sure about what made them move on from college wrestling....

My money on "baddest dude" is on Scott Brown. The stories about how he'd tear people's arms off are legendary. Greco-Roman national champion, match away from being an All-American.

It should be noted that John P. Morris is the only Group AA wrestler to earn All-American status in college. JPM's living in Oklahoma and doing quite well for himself.

I think the eras are different, I think grouping the last 30 years into one group is a bit tough to put a finger on "just" whatever. Considering the Bay Rivers wasn't even in existence in 1980.

Mike and Victor are good friends to this day, but I'd have to give the nod to Victor. "Not being able to beat" wrestlers like Richard Slocumb and Nate Parker is nothing to be ashamed of. Parker was a college All-American and Slocumb was a complete phenom who cut his life short before he could have really been something great.

you should add Chad Juhl too, he was a three timer. One more thing Slocumb did not cut his own life short.

I think Lafayette might have been still AAA when Panza was there, non the less he was good. I think honorable mention it was Hartley-York not Hardy...
