What are your opinions for the games?

#8 Warhill @ #1 Poquoson
1st game- Poquoson won 71-35
2nd game- Poquoson won 54-34

Poquoson should win this no problem. (Poq 2 wins on average 28 points) Warhill will put somewhat of a fight early on.
Pick: Poquoson 66 Warhill 47

#7 New Kent @ #2 Bruton

1st game- Bruton won 59-38
2nd game- Bruton won 62-31

Guys and Girls play same teams, just flip seeds. New Kent finished the season off strong. They were last place and won the #7 seed. Once again, Bruton should control the game from the start. (Bruton wins on average 25.5 pts)
Pick: Bruton 63 New Kent 41

#6 Smithfield @ #3 Grafton

1st game- Smithfield won 68-55
2nd game- Grafton won 47-37

Grafton started off slowly, but I think momentum started when they beat Bruton. This will be a good game to watch.
Pick: Smithfield 49 Grafton 43

#5 Tabb @ #4 Lafayette

1st game- Lafayette 63-58
2nd game- Lafayette 38-37

Probably best game of first round. Lafayette won both games in regular season, but I think this game will go to Tabb.
Pick: Tabb 50 Lafayette 47

Semis

Tabb/Lafayette winner and Warhill/Poquoson winner.
(Poquoson won both on an average 11.5 pts)
Page Turner and Kelly Halverson should be able to control this game. Tabb is capable of putting up a fight, but I think they will come up short.
Pick: Poquoson 71 Tabb 63

Smithfield/Grafton winner and New Kent/Bruton winner.
First game it was a blowout, second game was much closer. I see Bruton just doing their thing.
Pick: Bruton 55 Smithfield 41

Final

Pick: Bruton 60 Poquoson 59
As much as I hate doing this, but I am going to have to go with Bruton on this one. This will be one heck of a game.

What are your thoughts?
Remember this is my opinion, nothing against any of the teams. I wish them all luck!

BaseballFan,

Great thread. Enjoyable to read.

The Tabb over Lafayette pick is bold, but based on recent form it is impossible to argue with.

And your analysis, and even the scores you predict for the games, is close to the money. .....With one big exception in my opinion.

I see Grafton winning comfortably over Smithfield. Smithfield did win by 13 early in the season, but remember, Jasmine Williams-Hayes (18.8 ppg) and Sydney Beasley (9.5 ppg) missed the game because they were sick.

The Clippers won by 10 in the second meeting, with both girls back in the lineup, and I think that will be more what the game Monday will be like.

If so, what do you think the score of the Grafton-Bruton semifinal will be?

Marty,

Thanks. It totally slipped my mind about the first game, between Grafton/Smithfield, that Beasley, and Williams-Hayes missed that game.

I'm still going to stick with what I have. There's always an upset in sports. lol.

But if Grafton does win, Bruton will handle them more seriously. Bruton could win it all, I would have Bruton 70 Grafton 60.

I feel more confident on the girls game than the guys haha.

Marty, what are your predictions?

As a reporter, I don't want to give anyone any more bulletin board material than necessary.

I'll just go right to predicting a Bruton at Poquoson final, without picking a winner. I think it will be a close game, decided on turnovers (which would favor Bruton) or free throws (which would favor Poquoson).

Should be fun.

You get a free pass on Grafton-Smithfield, not realizing Williams-Hayes was sick and Beasley was at a band concert when Smithfield won.

You also can be forgiven for the Lafayette-Tabb result. Lafayette has finally hit its stride minus Johnisha Gray. If they play the way they did in the second half of the Tabb game, they are going to be a handful for anyone in the D-4 regional.
