Agree with your picks 100% in my heart. However, my mind says 140 is Gibson alone. He placed fourth at states and had the record to back it up. We can speculate forever on what a healthy Silva would have done, but it's a moot point. I will say this, the way he wrestled on Friday night at the Virginia Duals was out-of-sight fantastic and something I'll never forget. After watching the duals this year and seeing Silva, Smith, Dotson (Grundy) and Gibson, I thought 140 would be the toughest weight class at states, and I still think it was. So, I really congratulate Richie on the year he had.

So true But I did see Silva pin Mike Smith And I seen gibson 4 times this year So I give it a tie. Just Me. And yes 140 at AA States was Very Tough.

I too saw both guys wrestle multiple times. Gibson had all he could handle against a freshman who was wrestling up in the dual match @ Poquoson, then celebrated like he had just beaten the state champion. We all saw what Silva did to Smith after a month long layoff. I think both should be commended for their great careers but I don't think that Gibson would of been a match for a healthy Cody. Just my opinion.

You know, we're playing the coulda, woulda, shoulda game. I could speculate on a lot of things that might have happened if a certain PHS 140 pounder were completely healthy. For example, winning the Va Duals, and winning the BRD...again. However, that didn't happen. I agree whole heartedly on your posts, and we're also going to miss the gap-shooting nose guard skills come next football season. It's over now, we can't change what happened, and I think we need to give some props to the guy on the medal stand at the state finals. So, I'm done on this thread. See you at the AAA-AA challenge matches...if they're still having them this year.

Agreed, and I do give credit to all of those who wrestled. I was there and applauded all wrestlers because I appreciate their hard work and commitment. And as I said in my previous post, it was just my opinion.
And...as fas as nose guard, very difficult to replace that guy, but we've got some good ones coming, and I also think it's probably as much the system as it is the players. I love the 4-4 and 3-5-3. Hats off to those football coaches too!!
