Even though the award does not exist in the PD, who would you pick as the best defensive player at each position???

Not sure of his name, but Gloucester's centerfielder made one of the most spectacular catches against us. I've heard other coaches say that he does that all the time.

joyce? the third basemen for woodside?
after watching him make numerous errors in the game against Menchville i really doubt he is up for any defensive award. The kid has a big stick when he connects, but i see him as more of a DH then a "gold glover".

Ellington for Warwick gets a lot of attention for his bat, which is obviously deserved, but he plays third as well as anyone I've seen this year.

in the future, you'll be hearing about the SS from Kecoughtan. He has great range, but still young. Once he fills out a little bit, and his arm gets stronger, he make will make some espy plays.

I second the vote for Ellington. He has made some great plays in the field and looks like he is only getting better.

In addition to the older guys, there are some terrific freshmen playing well in the field this year, including Henderson (3B) at Bethel, Holbrooks (SS) at Phoebus, and Edgar (OF) at Hampton, and some stellar sophomores like Gray (C) at Menchville, Burton (1b) at Woodside, and Huey (2B) at Bethel.

Hes only been here a year but hands down J. Cotton at SS and in my opinion and take it for what u will he throws better than Carter. No disrespect but this kid is the real deal...

KOAK would have to agree that J. Cotton is the real deal. Cotton throws in the upper 80's and has a great breaking ball. KOAK would put Cotton's stuff up against anybody in the district. He is an outstanding player. What are his plans for post-high school? Wasn't he one of the ones who was supposed to go to Denbigh or Heritage earlier this school year?

I thought the one named Niko played SS, and Cotton was an outfielder?

OF- Armstead(MHS) Cotton (MHS), Belvin GHS
SS- Wiggins----has made some amazing plays this season (GHS)
2B- Lutz (GHS)-----for his bat
3B- Ellington (WHS)
1B- Bremmar (GHS)
P- could go to anyone Shively (BHS) Carter (MHS) Chrismon (MHS) Belvin (GHS) Mays---forgive spelling if incorrect (WHS)
C- hands down Cecil (GHS)

It is obvious to me that most of the talent in the PD is in about 4 schools

Yea Jason struggled for a while, but as evidenced by Coach Ox, he's pretty solid over there now..we'll see for the next few games. That Cecil kid is the truth..heh, as is Terrell in my Opinion.

Ellington sure can throw the ball hard, accuracy has always been his problem, if he can control that though he has a decent shot of making it somewhere

Joyce maybe all district third base... but not SS.

SS comes down to Wiggins (GHS), Jeffries (BHS), and McCann (WHS).

all three of these kids have terrific gloves.

Yeah I agree with the SS comment...it'll most like come down to the bats. Whoever hit the best throughout the season will be the 1st team player. I dont think there are really any set in stone 1st team all district players right now at one certain position...I would say Cecil (C-GHS), Belvin (OF-GHS), Chrismon and Carter (P MHS) and Belvin (O GHS). these players, to me, are hands down the best at there positions. One player that I've been neglecting to mention is Delusa, the CF from Gloucester. The kid is hitting well over .400 and makes tremendous plays in the outfield. The only problem is there are a lot of outfielders in the PD that hit for power and he is a leadoff hitter that has good at bats and always finds a way on base. Stuff like that seems to get overlooked when it comes to All District voting.

:focus:If im not mistaken i thought this forum was for gold glove, not all district teams. My gold glove winner would have to be trey steele from MHS. He has been holding it down real well at second base this year making some amazing and game saving plays.

You guys have gotten away from the topic
Its not on All-Pd players, its on Gold Gloves

Since we are talking about Gold Gloves:

Catcher - Cecil - GHS
OF - Scott/Cooke - BHS

These 3 are the best defensively that I have seen.

I traveled to GHS to watch the BHS/GHS game on Sat. Although the game was not much to see, their defense was worth the trip.
