With Lafayette, Bruton, & Jamestown losing some key players to Graduation. And the new edition of Warhill it should be a wide open year for the BRD. Although my ties are to Poquoson . I'm looking forward to a wide open year.

Personally I think Poquoson will do well with alot of returning players from last year and some players moving up from the JV program.:) :clap2: :D

pfft, york can barely hang in now
poquoson is definitely taking it all the way next year with returners Halverson and Turner
too many of the teams in the BRD are losing valuable seniors with no one to fill their shoes.

I know Poquoson had alot of returning players & with some of last years JV players making a sudden impact to their game. I've been to every game and seen the team play and seen everyone contribute. My prediction, for the season is and was always will be Poquoson. My Daughter is on the their JV team this year, as she was last season. And that team is doing as well in the district as varsity is right now. Poquoson's girls team are going to do well for the next few years. But, remember this is basketball, and any given night anybody can be beat. I will still be in the stands cheering them on no matter the outcome

Clearly Tabb will win under the new guidance of Coach aultman. she is quite the coach I agree Coach aultman lead her 8th graders to a championship win. Which includes most of the team this year. They are losing a few key seniors this years but also are having a handful of returners who are developing as great players throughout this year. :)

The season, so far, is still going about the way I thought. The same teams still lurking @ the top. Poq., Layf., & Brut.. York and Tabb are sleeper teams, they could do some damage in the district tourney, and find themself in the regionals. But Y &/or T, win the district . To many other teams need to lose games. It just goes to show you that on ANY given night. anyone can be beat. The harsh reality of some teams, they go thru spells where they seem to be on a roll and can not be beat. In the BRD, You have to come to play every night and every period. To win

You were right about Coach Aultman, I was there at the district tourney game at Poq. on the 19th of Feb. She had them playing really well and almost pulled of the upset.

Good Luck to Bruton on their quest for a state championship. Though I am a fan of the Poquoson team. Poq. was just to banged up to go against other physical teams that are outside this region. When it came down to it. The teams in the Bay River District, need to get more physical to go against these teams in this region, and other regions. Jamestown did when they had Canady & her supporting cast. Now look what she is doing in the college ranks. So to all teams for next year, get physical, tough games are still going to be tough games. But focus on the bigger prize. Winning the state championship. It's not what you do in the BRD. But what you do in the region & the rest of the State. :clap2:

tomFs3,

Not sure the Islanders need to get that much more physical. They won 21 games, shared the district championship and won the district tournament with a mostly finesse style. All but one key player is back so they should have a good shot at making the state tournament next year by playing their style.

But it is true that the refs allow teams to play more physically in the regionals. I saw five regional boys and girls games last week, and the refs let the teams play far more physically than in the average Bay Rivers game.

That drove the Poquoson fans crazy. Even the slightest bump during the semifinal game at Greensville Co. prompted a cry of "foul" from Poquoson fans. Regardless, officiating had nothing to do with the outcome. Greensville was a little more talented and simply executed better on both ends of the floor.

So anybody want to predict who will win the Bay River District this year?

Well I dont know for sure but I'll say New Kent;) after all they have a new coach named TOM! and this coach understands you have to block out and rebound so I do believe they will be greatly improved, maybe not at the top but a lot better than last year:clap2:

I'm their at every game and yes!, they are playing good ball. But the Lady Islanders will be tested hard after the Christmas Break, when they play Bruton, Lafayette, Tabb, and York within a week span starting on January 3rd. With the first 3 are on the road
