Bay Rivers Track Club results

Bay Rivers Track Club has had a very successful summer. Several athletes in the Gloucester High School program have been participating in summer track and field meets in the local area and soon to compete in North Carolina. The meets are age group meets for individuals as well as clubs.
The first meet of the summer was held at Todd Stadium Newport News, Virginia the Atlantic Coast Invite on June 19th. Results were: Intermediate Boys 1500 m - run 2nd place, Kevin Speray 4:30.24; Intermediate Boys 800m run 4th place, Da Rontae Carter 2:16.65; Intermediate Girls High Jump 1st place, Evan Wagner 500, 2nd place, Natalia Bueker 500; Young Women Discus 1st place Jazmine Banks 8510.50, 7th place, Haley Lucas 553.50 and Young Women Shot Put 1st place Jazmine Banks 383.50and 8th place, Haley Lucas 23.75
The major meet on the summer was the AAU Area 3 National Qualifier that was held at Darling Stadium Hampton, Virginia June 24-27. This meet allowed athletes to qualify for the AAU Junior Olympics to be held at Norfolk State University August 1-7 if you place in the top eight places. Bay Rivers Track Club had seven participants and five have qualified to the AAU JOY. Results were: Youth Boys 1500m run 10th place, Cody Davis 5:24.37; Intermediate 1500m run 5th place, Kevin Speray 4:32.28, Intermediate 3000 run 3rd place, Kevin Speray 10:36.34; Intermediate Boys 800m run 13th place, Da Rontae Carter; Young Women Discus 3rd place, Jazmine Banks 8909, 5th place, Haley Lucas 6211; Intermediate Girls High Jump 2nd place, Evan Wagner 410, 4th place Natalia Bueker 404 and Young Women Shot Put 2nd place Jazmine Banks 3407, 7th place Haley Lucas 2302
Last weekend the Bay Rivers Track Club traveled to Richmond, Virginia and participated in the Cannonball Cooper invite at Varina High School. Results were: Youth Boys 1500m run 9th place, Cody Davis 5:24.21; Intermediate Boys 1500m run 1st place, Kevin Speray 4:30.24; Intermediate Boys 800m run 3rd place, Da Rontae Carter 2:14.67; Intermediate Girls Long Jump 1st place, Natalia Bueker 1508; Intermediate Girls High Jump 1st place, Evan Wagner 410, 3rd place, Natalia Bueker 406 and Young Women and Open Shot Put 1st place Jazmine Banks 3810.
The next meet will be held at Duke University and the Russell Blunt East Coast Invite on July 23-25. We have four athletes that have met the qualifying standards to participate.
