York Falcon Field Hockey Invitational

Friday and Saturday the York Falcons are having their annual varsity field hockey tournament. 14 schools will be playing in this 2 day event. Come out and support all of the local area field hockey teams that will be competing in this event. I am sure we will see some great field hockey games. Games begin today at 3:00pm and end at 9:15p and Saturday begins at 7:30am and the last game is scheduled for 6:45p.

Teams:

Menchville
HRA
Nansemond River
Williamsburg Christian
Granby
Maury
York
Grafton
Woodside
Poquoson
Warhill
Denbigh
Bruton
Bethel

Re: York Falcon Field Hockey Invitational

I'm surprised that the Daily Press didn't cover the York Field Hockey tournament. I haven't seen any results/scores posted. This tournament featured some of the strongest field hockey teams in the area. Any chance the results will be in the paper sometime this week? How about the all-tournament team selections? These girls deserve some recognition.

Look at the number of teams. They would have had to play 2-3 more games to determine a single champion. Not feasible. Teams can only play a set amount of games per season. Also, you should have asked if Jamestown and Lafayette were invited first. My guess is, they were or have been asked in the past and declined. I'm sure they would have liked to have 2 more teams to even the pools at 4 each.

I believe that in the past when Susan was running the invitational tournament only one team was named champion and many more teams were in attendance, so I do believe that it is feasible. As for Jamestown and Lafayette I would have just liked to see a little more Bay Rivers.
