Next year some predictions

[B 10: Menchville:This year (1-8 in PD). This team loses key players such as: Jonathan Thompson, Taron Pettway, QB Jamel Booth, most of defense, much of their OL. A young inexperienced team returns next year for Menchville.

9. Denbigh: This year (0-9 in PD). They lose a lot on their Offense. They lose the TE and their QB. Their defense should be a bit better with experience. Not much change here.

8. Gloucester: This year (2-7 in PD). They lose some on the Defense. With Mark Greenauer gone and some DL and LB's. This team should be improved next year. Returning some talent.

7. Heritage: This year (3-6 in PD): They lose some WR's on the offense and some defensive players. Most of this group returns including the RB Khalid Abdullah.

6. Kecoughtan: This year (5-4 in PD): They lose their leading Rusher Adrian Pope. Also gone is most of that Defense and their head coach. They do return Trenton Cannon.

5. Bethel: This year (6-3 in PD): They lose their QB Frank Brown also Frank Proctor and Willie Davis. They lose a lot but return some talent.

4. Warwick: This year (5-4 in PD: They do return Josh Butler and Cardon Johnson. But lose some of that Defense. They do have some talent on offense but the defense might be the weakness. They do also lose some experience on the OLine as well.

3. Hampton: This year (7-2 in PD): They lose both of their RB's Kavon Bellamy and Dallas Cogdell also Jeremy Eubank is gone. Their defense also loses some experience as well. Their OLine and DLine look strong next year. But having a rising star in Marshawn Williams.

2. Phoebus: This year (7-2 in PD): They lose their top WR's in Romond Deloatch and Featherston. Their defense loses some talent as well. Also gone is Eric Enderson the QB. But Phoebus has the ability to rebuild. Tony Pittman returns and is a force. It won't surprise if Phoebus proves we wrong here.

1. Woodside: This year (9-0 in PD): They lose Donnell Lewis and Jalil Moore. Most of their offense returns but lose some on defense. Their OLine and DLine's return experience.

Some questions about next year?

1. Even more equal teams next year. The PD is even more open field next year. A lot of talent is gone this year. Expect closer games next year.

2. Which teams will step up? Phoebus lose 20 plus players Who will step up? Hampton loses a lot as well. Who will step up? Bethel loses a lot of key players who steps up?

3. Woodside: Who will be next QB at Woodside? Can they run the table again?

4. Heritage: They were more competitive this year. Can they find some talent on the defense?

5. Kecoughtan: Who will be the next great HB? Who will lead the Defense.

Re: Next year some predictions

10. Denbigh- they were absolutely horrible on d... i dont see experience helping them

9. Menchville- MHS has a few athletes every year but both lines are a problem... a big problem

8. Gloucester- Loses their best player (in my opinion) Greenaur but i think they can still win a few district games

7. Kecoughtan- New coach, lost a ton of talent but still return some studs on D and Cannon i just think heritage will surpass them

6. Warwick- started off well but got a little iffy near the end of the season... i think they will take a step back

5. Heritage- Abdullah will be an absolute monster next year, New Coach has his kids buying into his system and playing tough D, they will compete

4. Bethel- every year Bethel loses 20-30 seniors yet every year new faces step up i dont think they will touch the top 3 but they will be pretty solid

3. Hampton- they lose a ton of talent and could fall as far as 6th BUT i think Smith can get his youngsters to play SCRAPPY

2. Phoebus- i think they will have a very similar season to this past one Matthews and Pittman will be the best 1-2 punch in the state, defense may struggle a little

1. Woodside- Return a ton of talent on both sides and the lines if they can find a new kicker and a QB to step up they will have no problem running the table again.. Noteable returnees: RB/LB Tim Flood, RB/DB Jay'Quan Lassiter, WR/DB Donta Butler, WR/DB DJ Miller, QB/DB Darius Howell, C/LB Tyree Waldon, OL/DL Terrence Jones, OL/DL Evan Davis, WR/DB Quincy Jones, RB/LB Blaine Daniels, RB/DB Tyris Walker, RB/LB Tremaine Clark, DL Miles McConner

Re: Next year some predictions

Next season is too far away for me to make any predicitons at this time. I'm thinking about the task at hand (North Stafford). However, they sound like legitimate picks. Welcome back WoHS. How was your Thanksgiving with the family?

Re: Next year some predictions

I'll let his season end first but, there will be some shake ups and I see a few new teams moving up and making next year even better than this year.

Phoebus returns 27 players from this year's squad.

13 Key starters:

Tony Pittman RB
Atavius Matthews FB/RB
Dre'Von Badger FB
Malik Hawkins RB/LB
Seth Roby TE/OLB
Walter Brantley OL/DL 6'3" 315lb
Mark Wilson OL/DL 6'4" 235lb (Will sign Division I Early)
Kevin Lyles OL/DL 5'10" 265lb
Harry Lewis OL/DL 6'2" 250lb
Tyreek Bailey OL/DL 6'1" 230lb
Carlos Henderson OL/DL 6'3" 260lb
Alex Carty OL/DL 6'5" 230lb
Dylan Kremp P/K 5'11" 175lb

Two new players that sat out last year because of the 365-day rule. Another top JV program sends a lot of good-looking young players to Varsity.

The QB will turn a lot of head nest year. This kid is only an eight grader and the varsity players have been talking about this young man all year. Another name to remember is Toliver. He will start as a freshman WR.

Re: Next year some predictions

Bethel will continue to get better. At last nights end of season banquet it was announced that former Phoebus coach Greg Day is going to be doing the weight conditioning for the Bruins and that can only help them. Many folks believe the weight room is a big "Handicap" for the Bruins. It was also announced that next year guys are going to be playing both sides of the ball!!! Now they like Phoebus, Hampton, Woodside etc... will have their best players on the field at all times...
