Safe Soccer Fields for High School Games
Can anyone give me the scoop on the VHSL requirements for an appropriate field?
My daughter's high school soccer team traveled a great distance to play a game today. Upon arrival, the team found a field whose four corners overlapped a hard gravel surface. The four corner flags where not stuck in the ground, but placed in the right position using something akin to a traffic cone.
Her coach refused to play on the surface due to safety reasons, but was overruled by the opposing school AD and the referee.
We are now 0-1 due to the forfeit.
I find it hard to believe that this is legal. Any ideas?
